Abstract

This thesis is a study of the graduation recital program for the author's master's degree. By analyzing and researching the lives, composition styles, and techniques of classical and romantic composers, it will be possible to gain insight into the in-depth interpretation of performances. Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) was the classical music composer whose originality stood out as a figure who bridged the gap between classical and romantic music. His musical grammar was classical at the time, and he developed his own technique by incorporating his own original form and lyricism. His compositions can be categorized into early, middle, and late periods, each of which has its own distinct characteristics. Accordingly, this paper examines the form, composition, and characteristics of Violin Sonata No. 8 from the middle period, as well as attempts to study and analyze it. Beethoven's Violin Sonata No. 8 consists of three classically-structured movements. Through the equal progression of piano and violin as well as the rapid tonal change, it adds novelty without a classical nature. In addition, it implements its own musical language via rapid changes in melody and theme melody, as well as through expansion. Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924) was a French composer representing the romantic style of music. The majority of his compositions are small-scale pieces such as chamber music and songs. To comprehend the first sonata, "Violin Sonata No. 1 in A Major, Op. 13," the overall development trend of his compositional style and technique was identified, and the form and composition of this work were analyzed in depth. Violin Sonata No. 1 by Fauré is characterized by a counterpoint texture throughout that creates a classic balance. In the midst of this, he imbues his own atmosphere via textures such as chromatic progression, rhythmic variation, and parallel harmony. Pablo de Sarasate (1844-1908) was considered the greatest violin virtuoso of his time and was a nationalist musician. Thus, the majority of his works are violin virtuoso pieces, primarily comprised of Spanish folk dances. Through "Zigeunerweisen, Op. 20," which is based on gypsy music, various technical techniques, compositional techniques, and musical elements of Sarasate were investigated. The single movement of Zigeunerweisen is divided into three sections to alter the theme. It is characterized by the intention to display the performer's skill via a variety of technical techniques. He developed his own style using advanced techniques such as ornamental notes, left-hand pizzicato, chromatic glissando, slur staccato, spiccato, attack, harmonics, etc.;본 논문은 필자의 석사 과정 졸업 리사이틀 프로그램에 대한 연구로 고전주의와 낭만주의 작곡가의 작품을 통하여 그들의 생애와 작곡 양식 및 기법을 분석하고 연구함으로, 깊이 있는 해석과 연주에 도움을 얻고자 한다. 루드비히 반 베토벤 (Ludwig van Beethoven, 1770-1827)은 고전주의와 낭만주의 음악의 교량적 역할을 한 인물로 고전주의 음악에서 가장 독창성이 돋보이는 작곡가이다. 그의 음악 어법은 고전적이면서 자신만의 독창적인 형식과 서정성을 가미하여 독자적인 음악세계를 구축해낸다. 그의 작곡 시기는 초기, 중기, 후기로 나눌 수 있으며 각 시기별로 특징이 나타난다. 이에 본 논문은 중기에 속하는 『Violin Sonata No. 8』을 연구하고 분석하여, 이 작품의 형식, 구성, 특징에 대해 살펴보고자 하였다. 베토벤의 <Violin Sonata No. 8>은 고전적 형식에 따라 3악장 구성의 소나타로 이루어져 있으며, 피아노와 바이올린의 동등한 진행과 급격한 조성 변화를 통해 고전적 성격에 머무르지 않으면서 새로움을 더한다. 또한 급격한 악상변화와 주제 선율의 변화, 확장을 통해 자신만의 음악언어를 구현한다. 가브리엘 포레 (Gabriel Fauré, 1845-1924)는 프랑스의 낭만음악을 대표하는 작곡가로 그의 작품은 주로 실내악, 가곡 등 소규모의 작품으로 구성되어있다. 그 중 첫 소나타인『Violin Sonata No.1, in A Major, Op.13』을 이해하기 위하여 그의 작곡양식 및 기법의 전반적 발전 경향을 파악하고, 이 작품의 형식과 구성 등을 자세히 고찰하였다. 포레는 <Violin Sonata No.1>에서 전반적으로 대위법적 짜임새를 통해 고전적인 균형을 이루어냈다. 그러한 가운데 반음계 진행, 리듬 변화와 화성의 병행 등의 구사를 통해 자신만의 분위기를 구현한다. 파블로 데 사라사테 (Pablo de Sarasate, 1844-1908)는 민족주의 음악가이며, 당대 최고의 비르투오소 바이올리니스트로 불리었다. 그의 작품은 대부분 기교적인 바이올린 작품으로 구성되어 있으며, 주로 스페인의 민족 춤곡을 소재로 작곡되었다. 그 중 집시음악을 소재로 한『Zigeunerweisen, Op.20』을 통해 사라사테의 기술적인 다양한 주법과 구성, 음악적 요소를 살펴보았다. 사라사테의 <Zigeunerweisen>은 단일악장으로 구성되어 있으나, 세 부분으로 나누어 주제의 변화를 주었으며, 다양한 기교적인 주법을 통해 연주자의 기량을 발휘할 수 있게 하려는 의도가 보이는 것이 특징이다. 기교적인 주법으로는 장식음, 왼손피치카토, 반음계적 글리산도, 슬러 스타카토, 스피카토, 어택, 하모닉스 등이 있으며, 이러한 요소들을 통해 자신만의 작풍을 구현한다.
