현재로 행위 하는 흔적

Abstract

본 연구는 흙에 대한 작업이 대지와 삶에 대한 열정의 태도로 이어지는 과정을 담은 논고이다. 우리의 행동은 연쇄 작용과 같이 계속해서 다른 움직임을 낳는다. 삶은 직선적인 시간에서 앞으로 나아간다 라기 보다는 밤, 낮 안에서 행동의 주기를 반복하고 있는 것에 더 가까울 것이다. 따라서 반복적으로 계속 이루어지는 행동에 대해서는 민감도가 떨어지기 쉽다. 하지만 우리가 몸으로 하는 아주 사소한 행동일지라도 땅 위에는 압력이 가해진다. 그러므로 행동의 흔적이 눈에 보이지 않는다 해서 정말로 그 행동이 사라진 것인지 단언할 수는 없다. 연구자는 살면서 계속해서 목표를 설정하고 그것을 이루거나 혹은 목표한 일을 마칠 때마다 매 번 강하게 밀려오는 회의감으로 인해 오랜 시간 무력감을 느껴왔다. 하지만 물성으로 가득한 세계에서 몸을 움직이는 한 모든 행적이 남을 수 있다는 사실은 삶에 대해 의욕을 잃었던 연구자에게 다시 움직이도록 하는 원동력으로 작용했다. 연구자는 행위의 흔적에 대해 탐구하여 목적만을 향한 미래적인 사고를 지양하고 삶에 대한 회의감에서 벗어나 행동에 대한 건강한 활력을 찾고자 하였다. 이에 연구자는 행동 및 운동의 흔적이 실재로서 표현이 가능한 배경을 앙리 베르그손(Henri Bergson, 1859-1941)의 지속의 개념과 함께 살펴보았다. 앙리 베르그손은 현상들이 의식과 동시에 나타나고 사라지지만 이것은 지속이 없는 어떤 실재 공간에 있다고 말한다. 베르그손의 시공간 속 지속을 통하여 우리의 행위를 중심으로 세계를 흔적이 그려지는 공간으로 인식해보고자 한다. 신체의 운동이 세계에 발현되고 흔적이 남는 것을 앞서 밝힌 후 흔적을 가시적으로 표현하기 위한 물질로 흙을 다루고자 한다. 흙은 세계와 신체를 이루어주는 근원적인 물질이 되어주고 연구자가 흙에 자국을 내는 것은 곧 세계에 자국을 내는 의미가 된다. 이어 그리스 사상에 대해 살펴보고 그리스 철학에 기저하는 현세에 대한 존중과 열정은 연구자에게 흙과 흔적에 관한 작업의 의미가 삶에 대한 태도로 확장되어 나타나게 한다. 본 연구를 통해 연구자는 스치는 찰나와 끊임없이 이루어지는 현재에 대한 흔적을 도자 작업으로 제시한다. 연구자에게 도자 작업은 흙이라는 물성에 자국과 흔적을 이용하여 일종의 기록과 창조 행위의 시간을 담은 작업이다. 도자기에 쌓이는 날 것의 흔적과 그것에 대한 의도적인 드러냄은 자신의 행위를 현재의 시간에서 의식하게 하고 올바르게 긍정할 수 있는 동기가 되었다. 행위의 흔적은 현재를 몰입하여 살아내는 것이 이 삶을 향한 지속적인 열정임을 보여준 점에 본고의 의의를 두고자 한다.;This study describes how artwork using natural materials such as soils leads to a stronger passion for the earth and life. Our behaviors have domino effects, triggering subsequent consequences. Living life is more like repeating behavioral patterns day and night rather than moving forward in a linear timeline, which is why we tend to be less sensitive to repetitive acts. However, even a simple body movement puts pressure on earth. Thus it cannot be asserted that behavior that does not leave a visible trace has disappeared. The strong skepticism gives the researcher feeling of powerless after achieving the goals. But the fact that any movement of our body leaves a trace in the world full of matters served as a driving force for our lives. The researcher sought to ditch the purpose- and future-oriented mindset and skepticism and gain positive energy by studying the behavioral trace. To that end, she looked into the background where traces of activity or body movement can be expressed in reality based on Henri Bergson (1859-1941)’s continuity theory. He says that a phenomenon appears as we become conscious about it and then disappears, but it exists in a place without continuity. In this study, it will be explored to perceive this world, focusing on our body, as a space of traces based on his spatiotemporal continuity. First of all, it shows how body movement is manifested in the world with a trace by using clay made from natural materials to represent it. Earth is a fundamental matter that links the world and the body. Leaving a trace behind on a clay equals leaving a trace in the world. Next, it will be extended to explore Greek philosophy based on respect and passion for this world and expand the researcher's idea by linking earth and trace to our attitude about life. In the study, the researcher presents ceramic work as a means of expressing a trace of passing moments and a constant continuation of the present. It means to record the present while making a creation by using traces on earth. Raw traces accumulated on the ceramics and their explicit expression make us more mindful of our present behavior and have positive thinking. This study is significant in showing that focusing on the present by using behavioral traces means a continued passion for our life.
