사이 공간이 담아 내는 상실

Abstract

본 논문은 본인의 미술 작업이 지닌 이론적 배경, 매체의 특성, 그리고 작품 표현에 대한 연구다. 본 연구에서는 본인의 작업 전반을 관통하는 ‘사이 공간’의 개념을 중심으로 가시성과 비가시성을 사유하며, ‘투명함’이라는 가시적이지만 동시에 추상적인 개념에 대해서 탐구하고 있다. 이러한 작업의 특징을 설명하기 위해 본 연구에서는 모리스 메를로-퐁티의 철학을 가져와, 보이는 것과 보이지 않는 것, 즉 분리될 수 없기에 서로 얽혀 감각과 의미를 상호잠식해 나가는 두 세계의 사이공간을 설명하고 있다. 현대미술과 문학은 관계성을 갖고 철학가들과 예술가들에 의해 다양한 스타일의 텍스트들을 창조해왔다. 이러한 맥락에서 본인은 텍스트의 베이스가 되는 개념과 각각의 사례들을 탐구해 보고 그것들을 본인의 작업과 비교하였다. 이는 본인의 작업 그리고 나아가 현대 미술의 담론 안에서 본인의 텍스트가 위치한 곳과 기능하는 방향성을 파악하기 위함이다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 철학 담론 안에서 그림엽서를 이용한 자크 데리다의 경우와, 철학적이고 개념적인 사이 공간을 왕복하는 소피 칼의 예, 그리고 구체시의 형상적인 특징에서 발견할 수 있는 물리적인 사이 공간 등을 살펴보았다. 회화는 시각적이기에 가장 원시적이고 직관적인 수단이다. 그렇기 때문에 관객에게 감각적인 인상을 주기도 한다. 본인은 본인의 회화가 ‘반투명’의 인상을 준다는 평가를 여러 번 받았다. 이는 ‘투명성’이라는 추상적인 단어를 탐구해보고자 하는 계기가 되었으며, 투명성의 개념을 설명할 수 있는 철학적 담론과 미술사적 흐름에 기대어 그러한 개념들의 발생, 인간 정신 현상과의 관계를 찾아보고자 했다. 또한 물리적으로 이어지는 듯하며 사이에 투명한 공간을 형성하는 여러 점으로 분할되는 캔버스를 철학적 개념으로 분석하고 발견한 사이 공간을 탐구해 보았다. 마지막으로 본인은 이를 본인의 작업에 나타나는 레이어와 그 사이 공간에 대해 탐구하며 그 진동의 근원을 찾아보려 했다. 인쇄기술의 발달 이후 구체시의 발생과 텍스트의 사이 공간에 대해 살펴보았듯이 영상 기술 이후 감각의 변화와 그에 따라 발생되는 공간에 대해 살펴보았다. 영상 매체의 미디어적 이해 통해 매체에 내재되어 있는 사이 공간을 찾아내며 몽타주를 쌓는 방식으로. 텍스트와, 드로잉, 영상을 한 화면 안에 쌓아 가며 레이어와 공간을 확장시키는 것을 살펴보고자 하였다. 이런 과정을 통해 본인 작업의 다양한 매체가 기능하는 방식과 비가시적인 주제가 시각화 되는 과정을 살펴볼 수 있었고 미술사적 이론 배경을 획득할 수 있었다. 이를 바탕으로 파악한 현대 미술 속 본인 작업의 현주소를 지침삼아 앞으로의 작업에 활용하려고 한다.;This thesis is a study on the theoretical background of one's art work, the characteristics of the medium, and the expression of the work. This study considers visibility and invisibility, focusing on the concept of 'interspace' that penetrates the entire work of one's own, and ex-plores the visible but at the same time abstract concept of 'transparency'. To illustrate the characteristics of this work, this study takes Maurice Merleau-Ponty philosophy and explains the space between the two worlds that are intertwined with each other and erode senses and meanings because they are invisible. Modern art and literature have been relational and have created texts of various styles by philosophers and artists. In this context, I explored the concept of being the base of text and each case and compared them with my work. This is to understand where one's text is located and the direction in which one's work and furthermore, within the discourse of contemporary art. To this end, this paper examined the case of Jacques Derrida using a picture postcard within the philosophical discourse, the example of Sophical reciprocating between philosoph-ical and conceptual spaces, and the physical space found in the shape features of the poem. Painting is the most primitive and intuitive means of visualization. Therefore, it also gives an emotional impression to the audience. I have been evaluated several times that my paint-ing gives the impression of "translucent." This served as an opportunity to explore the ab-stract word "transparency," and to find the relationship between the occurrence of such con-cepts and human mental phenomena, leaning on philosophical discourses that can explain the concept of transparency and art history. In addition, we analyzed the canvas, which seems to be physically connected and is divided into several points that form a transparent space be-tween them, and explored the space while discovering it. Finally, I tried to find the source of the vibration by exploring the layer that appears in my work and the space between them. As we looked at the space between the occurrence of con-crete poetry and text after the development of printing technology, we looked at the changes in senses after imaging technology and the space generated accordingly. Through the media understanding of video media, it is a method of building montage while finding space inher-ent in the media. We looked at expanding the layer and space by stacking text, drawing, and video in one screen. Through this process, it was possible to examine the way various media of one's work func-tion and the process of visualizing invisible topics, and obtain a background of art history theory. Based on this, the current status of one's work in modern art will be used as a guide-line for future work.
