국립무용단 「회오리」와 「시간의 나이」에 나타난 상호문화적 특성 연구

Abstract

대중문화가 한류를 주도하는 사이 우리 춤 또한 국가의 경계를 넘어 활발히 교류하며 문화다양성 시대에 호응하는 다양한 협업을 진행하고 있다. 문화의 교류와 접합은 오늘날 주요한 경향의 하나이며, 보편성과 다양성의 양면을 추구하는 흐름은 무용예술 현장에서 상호문화적 관점의 필요성을 촉발시켰다. 이에 따라 본 논문은 국립무용단 해외 안무가 프로젝트로 발표된 작품 「회오리」와 「시간의 나이」에 나타난 상호문화적 특성을 분석함으로써 창작 현장의 변화에 적용할 수 있는 무용예술과 상호문화적 관점의 연관성을 규명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 일차적으로 상호문화성 개념과 관련 이론을 살펴봄으로써 이론적 기초를 마련하고자 하였다. 이후 창단 이래 국립무용단의 협업 양상을 살펴보고, 해외 안무가 초청 프로젝트를 계기로 상호문화적 관점과 무용예술의 연관성 및 영향성을 파악하였다. 창작 과정에서 각 문화의 ‘대화’와 평등한 ‘상호작용’, ‘새로운 문화의 생성’에 이르는 세 단계에 걸쳐 주요한 특성이 드러남을 발견하였고, 다양한 문화의 공존을 넘어서 문화와 문화 간 대화와 의사소통을 추구하는 상호문화주의 양상이 국립무용단 작품에 드러나고 있음을 확인하였다. 이로써 본 논문에서는 상호문화적 특성이 전제된 작품으로 하여금 한국무용의 세계화 흐름에 협업 작업이 지니는 의의를 발견할 수 있었다. 결국 상호문화성은 무용 작품의 창작 과정에 맞물려 존재하는 개념으로, 그러한 관점이 반영된 창작과 결과물인 작품은 여러 문화의 병존을 넘어서 완전히 새로운 가치의 문화를 창출한다고 보았다. 오늘날 무용예술은 장르와 문화의 융합으로 무한한 다양성을 보여주고 있다. 작품 창작 과정에서의 의사소통, 표현, 상호작용이 두 문화의 합이 아닌 완전히 새로운 문화를 창출한다는 연구 결과는 오늘날 세계 무용계에서 보편적 춤언어로서 한국무용의 가능성을 모색하는 데 상기할 만한 의미를 지닌다. ;While popular culture is leading the Korean Wave, Korean dance is also actively exchanging across the boundaries of the country and conducting various collaborations in response to the era of cultural diversity. Cultural exchange and bonding are one of the major trends today, and the trend of pursuing both universality and diversity has triggered the need for an intercultural perspective in the art of dance field. Accordingly, this study attempted to investigate the relationship between the art of dance and the intercultural perspective that can be applied to changes in the creative field by analyzing the intercultural characteristics of the works “Vortex” and “Shiganè Naï” performed through the “International Choreographer Project” of the National Dance Company of Korea. To this end, this study primarily attempted to lay the theoretical basis by examining the concept of interculturality and related theories. In addition, since its foundation, it has looked at the activities of the National Dance Company of Korea and identified the relation and influence between interculturality and art of dance with the International Choreographer Project. In the production, it was found that the main characteristics were revealed in three stages: “dialogue,” equal “interaction,” and “creation of new cultures,” and that the interculturalism pursuing dialogue and communication between cultures was revealed in the works of the National Dance Company of Korea. As a result, in this study, it was possible to discover the significance of collaborative work in the globalization trend of Korean dance for works premised on intercultural characteristics. So, interculturality is a concept that exists in conjunction with the creative process of the production, and it was considered that creation and work, which reflect such intercultural perspectives, go beyond the coexistence of various cultures, and create a completely new culture of value. Today, art of dance shows infinite diversity through the fusion of genre and culture. The results of the study that communication, expression, and interaction in the process of creating works create a completely new culture, not the sum of the two cultures, are of remarkable significance in seeking the possibility of Korean dance as a universal dance expression in today.
