K. Szymanowski Notturno e Tarantella Op.28 의 작품 분석

Abstract

Karol Szymanowski is one of the famous Polish composers in 20th century, and his works have both musical elements of late romantic style and 20th century contemporary style. He organized “Young Poland” to develop Polish contemporary music and to accept new European music rather than to keep conservative Polish music. In this way, he influenced the development of polish contemporary music. Szymanowski’s composition period is divided into early, middle, and late. His early period was composed in a romantic style, middle period was impressionist style, and late period was nationalism style. His violin piece <Notturno e Tarantella Op.28>, the main topic of this study, was composed in his middle period. When he composed it, he traveled around Europe and created his own style under the influence of multinational music and impressionist music by Debussy. Composed in 1915 right after the trip, Nocturn and Tarantella are songs that combine Nocturn's slow movement and Tarantella's fast movement into one, showing a unique form and making a new attempt different from the early romantic style. This original composition of the movement was influenced by Chopin, and Debussy's impressionism and Spanish folk music are revealed in the piece. This piece shows the colors of Spanish folk elements from the melodies using Phrygian mode, church mode, and ornamentation, the rhythms using habanera, seguidilla, and hemiola, and shows the color of impressionism in the 5th parallel chord and 2nd chord. Furthermore, he used harmonics and mute to give an exotic atmosphere. The purpose of the study is to explore Szymanowski’s life and compositional period in three parts and to analyze the background and structure of <Notturno e Tarantella Op.28> in its use of rhythms, harmonies, and scales of musical elements from impressionism and Spanish folk music;카롤 시마노프스키(Karol Szymanowski, 1882-1937)는 20세기 폴란드의 대표적 작곡가로 후기 낭만주의와 20세기 현대주의의 음악 요소를 모두 가지고 있다. 그는 폴란드 현대 음악의 발전을 위해 ‘영 폴란드(Young Poland)’를 결성하여 보수적인 폴란드 음악에서 벗어나 유럽의 새로운 음악을 받아들이는데 많은 노력을 했으며 유럽의 현대 음악 발전에도 영향을 끼쳤다. 시마노프스키의 작곡 시기는 작곡 경향에 따라 초기, 중기, 후기 세 부분으로 나눌 수 있는데 초기는 낭만주의, 중기는 인상주의, 후기는 민족주의 양식이 나타난다. 본 논문에서 다루어질 그의 바이올린 작품 ≪녹턴과 타란텔라≫ 는 중기에 해당되는 곡이다. 이 곡이 작곡될 시기 시마노프스키는 유럽 각지를 여행하며 다국적 음악의 영향과 드뷔시의 인상주의 영향을 받아서 독창적으로 작곡하기 시작했다. 여행 직후 1915년에 작곡한 ≪녹턴과 타란텔라≫는 녹턴의 느린 악장과 타란텔라의 빠른 악장을 하나로 결합한 곡으로 독특한 형태를 보이며 초기의 낭만주의풍과는 다른 새로운 시도를 한 곡이다. 이와 같은 독창적인 악장 구성은 녹턴을 하나의 장르로 확립시킨 쇼팽의 영향을 받았으며 드뷔시의 인상주의와 스페인 민속주의 어법이 곡에서 드러나고 있다. 프리지아 선법, 교회 선법, 장식음 등의 선율과 하바네라와 세기디야 리듬, 헤미올라 리듬과 같이 스페인의 민속적인 요소와 5도 병행화음과 2도 구성화음에서 인상주의의 색채를 보여주고 있다. 또한, 하모닉스와 약음기의 사용으로 이국적인 느낌을 더하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 시마노프스키의 생애와 작곡 시기를 세 부분으로 나누어 살펴보고,「Notturno e Trantella Op.28」 이 작곡된 배경과 악장 구성, 인상주의와 스페인의 민속적인 음악 요소가 리듬, 화성, 음계 등에서 어떻게 사용되는지 분석해보고자 한다.
