Francis Poulenc의 《Sonate pour Violon et Piano, FP.119》 분석 및 연구

Abstract

A leading composer of 20th century French music, Francis Poulenc (1899-1963) was a pioneer of ‘neoclassicism', a new music trend that emerged at the time, and a composer who played the most prominent role among ‘Le Groupe des Six'. In the history of 20th century music, where various music trends were mixed and atonalism and serialism prevailed, Poulenc is well known for his reinterpretation of classical music. Although his music is expressed in a traditional way, it is novel and modern. He tries to deliver it in a simple and honest manner. Poulenc composed not only pure classical music but also various genres from religious to popular music. He was a composer who took a step closer to the public audience by breaking the gap between art music and popular music. The violin sonata《Sonate pour Violon et Piano, FP.119》was composed upon the request of violinist Ginette Neveu(1919-1949), who won the International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition at the age of sixteen. It is dedicated to Federico Garcia Lorca (1898-1936), an author, poet, and a close friend of Poulenc. This work is a tribute to Poulenc's beloved friends. His sentiments are expressed throughout the piece in commemoration of Lorca who died during the Spanish Civil War and Ginette who composed and premiered this piece together but died in a tragic plane crash. This study analyzes violin sonata《Sonate pour Violon et Piano, FP.119》by examining the life, tendency of work, and musical characteristics of Francis Poulenc.;20세기 프랑스를 대표하는 작곡가, 프란시스 뿔랑(Francis Poulenc, 1899~1963)은 당시의 새로운 음악사조로 등장한 ‘신고전주의’의 개척자이자 ‘프랑스 6인조’에서 가장 두드러지는 활약을 한 작곡가이다. 다양한 음악사조가 혼재하며 무조성과 음렬주의가 팽배하던 20세기 음악사에서 뿔랑은 고전주의 음악을 20세기 관점과 양식으로 재해석해 발전시킨 ‘신고전주의’의 선구자격 작곡가로 잘 알려져 있다. 그의 음악은 전통적 어법으로 표현되지만 참신하고 현대적이며, 그는 자신의 음악을 꾸밈없이 단순하고 솔직하게 전달하고자 했다. 또한 뿔랑은 순수음악인 클래식 음악뿐 아니라 종교음악과 대중음악에 속하는 범주까지 아우르는 다양한 장르의 음악을 작곡하며 순수음악과 대중음악의 간극을 허물고 대중에게 친숙하게 다가간 작곡가이다. 바이올린 소나타《Sonate pour Violon et Piano, FP.119》는 비에니아프스키 국제 콩쿠르에서 16살의 어린나이로 우승한 바이올리니스트 지네트 느뵈(Ginette Neveu, 1919-1949)의 간청으로 작곡되었으며 뿔랑의 절친한 작가이자 시인, 페데리코 가르시아 로르카(Federico Garcia Lorca, 1898-1936)에게 헌정된 작품이다. 이 작품은 뿔랑이 사랑했던 이들을 추모하는 곡으로 스페인 내전으로 안타깝게 희생된 로르카와 작품을 함께 만들고 초연했지만 불의의 비행기사고로 생을 마감한 지네트를 기리는 그의 정서가 곡 전반적으로 나타나있다. 본 논문은 프란시스 뿔랑의 생애와 작품경향, 음악적 특징을 살펴보고 이를 바탕으로 그의 바이올린 소나타《Sonate pour Violon et Piano, FP.119》를 분석 및 연구한 것이다.
