Reasons for move

Abstract

Korea has displayed stages of migration from the diaspora of the past to the new migratory flows today. This study aims to analyze a new flow of migration in which according to the International Migration Organization people are generally migrating from Asia to start a new life in Latin America. The reasons and impacts caused by Korean migration were the subjects in this study. Moreover, it was observed that migration patterns have changed and it is common to observe how youth with high level of education is taking a decision to migrate. The purpose of this study is to explain the factors that affects in the migration making decision of young Koreans. Results were obtained from surveys and interviews conducted by the author from young Koreans living in Korea and young Koreans living in Latin American countries. The results were analyzed and projected as the findings of this research, indicating that young Koreans are looking for “individualization” generated by more push than pull factors, such as self – development, better job opportunities in a developing labour market and a curiosity to explore a new culture, which all played an important role in the decision making process for migration. It is argued that while push factors affect to the youth society, is necessary to establish youth policies, thinking about a new labour market, population and reaching cultural-social projects which provide a new cultural structure where youth occupy more active roles into their own society. ;한국은 과거의 디아스포라부터 오늘날의 새로운 이주의 흐름으로의 이주의 단계를 보여주었다. 본 연구는 많은 사람들이 새로운 삶을 시작하기 위하여 아시아에서 중남미로 이주하고 있다는 국제이주기구의 기록에 따라 새로운 이주 흐름을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 연구는 한국인들의 이주 원인과 그에 따른 영향을 주제로 하며, 나아가 이주 패턴이 변화하고 높은 수준의 고등교육을 받은 청년들이 어떻게 이주 결정을 내리는지를 관찰하는 것이 일반적이다. 본 연구의 목적은 한국 청년들의 이주 결정에 영향을 미치는 요소들을 설명하는 것으로 저자가 한국과 중남미국가에 거주하는 한인 청년들을 대상으로 실시한 설문조사 및 인터뷰를 통해 얻은 결과이다. 이 결과는 본 연구의 연구결과로 분석되고 투영되었는데, 이는 한국의 청년들이 유인요인보다 이주를 위한 의사결정 과정에서 중요한 역할을 했던 자기개발, 부상하는 노동시장에서의 더 나은 일자리 기회 그리고 새로운 문화 탐험에 대한 호기심과 같은 더 많은 추진요인에 의해 발생하는 “개인화”를 기대하고 있음을 보여준다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 추진요인들이 청년사회에 영향을 미치지만, 새로운 노동시장과 인구에 대해 고민하며, 청년이 자신의 사회에서 더 적극적인 역할을 차지하는 새로운 문화구조를 제공하는 문화사회 프로젝트에 도달하는 청년정책을 수립하는 것이 필수적임을 주장한다.
