Abstract

본 논문에서 김수민의 석사과정 졸업 리사이틀에서 초연된 작품인 세 명의 타악기 주자들을 위한『풍경, 소리』, 플루트, B♭ 클라리넷, 바이올린, 첼로를 위한『VVVVV』, 바이올린 독주를 위한『E for E』, 목관 5중주를 위한『Time Transfixed』, 플루트, B♭클라리넷, 두 명의 타악기 주자, 일렉트릭 기타, 바이올린, 첼로를 위한『Pilgrimage』의 작품 배경 및 음악적 전개 방식에 대해 연구하였다. 첫 번째 작품인 세 명의 타악기 주자들을 위한『풍경, 소리』에서 동기의 발전 형태에 따른 음악의 흐름과 중심음으로부터 파생되는 음형의 전개 방식에 대해 알아보았다. 반복적인 움직임의 과정에서 동기의 변형, 확대, 축소 등을 활용해 바람에 의해 본래의 풍경의 소리를 잃어가는 주제적 표현을 나타낸 것을 알 수 있다. 두 번째 곡인 플루트, B♭ 클라리넷, 바이올린, 첼로를 위한『VVVVV』에서는 성경 전도서의 저자인 솔로몬의 비유에 착안하여 음악적으로 묘사한 것을 볼 수 있다. 또한 목관악기군과 현악기군 각각의 효과적인 특수 주법을 연구하여 음색적인 변화를 의도한 것을 알 수 있다. 세 번째 곡인 바이올린 독주를 위한『E for E』는 넓은 음역의 사용과 고음부에서 연주가 용이한 바이올린의 개방현 E에서 연주하도록 되어있는 작품이다. 다양한 음악적 표현을 통해 각기 다른 E 음의 전개 방식을 볼 수 있으며 음형의 폭넓은 진행을 통해 바이올린 독주 고유의 긴장과 이완의 형태, 즉 자유로운 템포 루바토(rubato)의 움직임을 볼 수 있다. 네 번째 작품인 목관 5중주를 위한『Time Transfixed』에서 만들어진 ‘시간 음계’와 여기서 파생된 매트릭스를 사용하여 곡 분위기의 통일성을 유지하는 것을 볼 수 있으며 역행, 전위, 역행 전위의 형태를 가져와 대위적인 움직임을 효과적으로 표현하였다. 또한 다섯 악기 각각의 음색이 잘 나타나는 음역대에 대한 악기론적 고찰로 조화로운 5중주의 진행을 볼 수 있다. 다섯 번째 곡인 플루트, B♭클라리넷, 두 명의 타악기 주자, 일렉트릭 기타, 바이올린, 첼로를 위한『Pilgrimage』에서 나오는 네 가지 죄악에 대한 작곡가의 생각과 회개함으로써 죄를 씻어가는 과정을 음악적으로 표현한 것을 볼 수 있다. 주어진 동기의 진행과 전개 방식에 대한 넓은 연구를 통해 다양한 방법을 추구하고자 하였으며 일렉트릭 기타의 전자적인 구조와 비브라폰의 모터(motor), 페달(pedal)을 사용한 연주를 통해 두 악기 조합의 가능성을 발견한 것을 볼 수 있다. 총 다섯 작품에 대한 연구를 통해 작곡가의 삶에 대한 철학을 다양한 예술 작품에 영감을 받아 이를 음악적으로 나타내는 방법에 대해 살펴보았다. 작곡가는 예술작품의 시각적인 형태나 작품의 주제를 각 악장의 형식별 음색 변화에 집중하여 음악적으로 표현하고자 하였다. 이러한 음악적 분석을 토대로 음향적인 측면에서 심도 있는 연구를 통해 다양한 대규모 악기 편성의 작품을 작곡하여 작곡가의 작품 세계를 넓혀갈 계획이다.;This thesis is a study on five works that were premiered at the graduation concert for Kim Sumin's master's program held at Ewha Womans University Recital Hall at 7 pm on June 8, 2021. The works include Wind chime and Sound for three percussionists, VVVVV for flute, clarinet in B♭, violin and cello, E for E for solo violin, Time Transfixed for woodwind quintet, Pilgrimage for flute, clarinet in B♭, two percussionists, electric guitar, violin and cello. The compositional background and musical development of these works were studied. In first work, Wind chime and Sound for three percussionists, this piece was composed with the theme of the movement of the korean wind chime hanging from the eaves. This work shows how the music flows when the motive develops by. Furthermore, it has development of the sound form derived from the Tonal center. It can be seen that the thematic expression in which the original sound of the wind chime is lost by the wind in the process of repetitive movement is shown using the transformation, enlargement, and reduction of the motives. In the second piece, VVVVV for flute, clarinet in B♭, violin, and cello is musically described based on the parable of Solomon, the author of Ecclesiastes in the Bible. In addition, it can be seen that the tonality change was intended by studying the effective contemporary techniques of the woodwind instrument group and the string instrument group. The third piece, E for E for violin solo, is composed to be played on the open string E of a violin that uses a wide range and is easy to play in the treble section. Through various musical expressions, different ways of developing the E note are expressed, and through the wide progression of sound patterns, the unique form of tension and relaxation of violin solo in other words, tempo rubato, can be seen. In the fourth work, Time Transfixed for a woodwind quintet, the 'time scale' and a derived matrix were used. It maintains the unity of the song's atmosphere. By using the forms of retrograde, inversion, and retrograde inversion, the counterpoint movement was effectively expressed. In addition, the harmonious progress of the quintet can be seen through instrumental consideration of the range in which the tone of each of the five instruments is well expressed. In the fifth piece, Pilgrimage for flute, clarinet in B♭, two percussionists, electric guitar, violin and cello is a musical expression of the composer's thoughts on the four sins and the process of washing away sins through repentance. Through a wide study on the progression and development of a given motive, various methods were sought. And the possibility of a combination of two instruments was discovered through the electric structure of an electric guitar and performance using the motor and pedal of a vibraphone. This study shows that the composer's philosophy of life was inspired by various works of art and how it was expressed musically. The composer tried to express her thoughts by describing the visual form in a musical way or by the theme itself. This focused more on special playing techniques and changes in tone. The composer established her own vocabulary through in-depth research on her musical characteristics.
