목회자 자녀의 자존감 회복에 관한 목회상담학적 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 하인즈 코헛의 자기심리학을 통해서 목회자 자녀의 낮은 자존감을 분석하고 목회상담학적인 치료방안을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 목회자 자녀들은 목회자인 부모와 교인들의 지나친 기대와 관심 그리고 시선을 받기 때문에 공감적인 반영을 받지 못한다. 특히 목회자 부모는 사역과 가정을 구분하지 못하고 자녀에게 작은 목회자로서 역할을 감당하기를 요구하며 교인들 또한 가혹한 잣대를 들이대면서 자녀를 판단하게 된다. 그에 따라 목회자 자녀들은 자의가 아닌 타의로 떠맡게 된 모범적인 이미지와 과도한 기대에 충족하기 위해서 부단히 노력하게 되고 결국은 많은 스트레스를 받게 된다. 하인즈 코헛의 자기심리학에서 부모는 자녀의 자기애적 욕구를 공감적으로 반영해주면서 건강한 자기애로 승화해주는 자기대상의 역할을 해야 한다. 하지만 목회자 부모는 공감적인 자기대상의 역할을 하지 않고 오히려 엄격하고 높은 기준과 기대감에 맞추도록 자녀에게 요구한다. 그러면 목회자 자녀는 자기애적 욕구를 충족하지 못하고 적절한 공감의 부재로 인해 낮은 자존감을 갖게 되는 것이다. 이에 연구자는 하인즈 코헛의 자기심리학을 중심으로 목회자 자녀의 낮은 자존감의 회복 방안을 제안했다. 본 연구는 목회자 자녀의 낮은 자존감에 본격적으로 초점을 맞추고 하인즈 코헛의 자기심리학을 중심으로 체계적인 분석을 시도한다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 그리고 낮은 자존감을 가진 목회자 자녀가 겪을 수 있는 병리적 성격을 정리하고 목회상담자가 마주할 수 있는 역동과 상담방법을 제시했다. 또한 전통적인 기독교 영성 훈련인 렉시오 디비나를 통하여 자기대상으로의 하나님의 이미지가 회복되는 시도를 하고자 하였다. 앞으로 자기심리학의 다양한 상담 방법론이 제안되어야 하며, 이와 함께 목회자 자녀에 대한 신앙적 관심과 심리적 돌봄이 앞으로도 지속적으로 연구되고 실천되어야 한다. ;The purpose of this study is to analyze the low self-esteem of pastor's children through Heinz Kohut's self-psychology, and to suggest pastoral counseling treatment options. Pastor's children cannot not receive empathic reflection, as they receive excessive expectations, interest, and attention from their parents and church members. In particular, parents who are pastors often cannot distinguish between ministry and family, demanding their children to take on the role of a small pastor, and church members also put harsh standards on pastor's children and judging them. As a result, pastor’s children work tirelessly to meet the exemplary image and excessive expectations that they have assumed, not voluntarily, eventually end up under a lot of stress. In Heinz Kohut's self-psychology, parents should take the role of selfobjects that empathize with their children's narcissistic needs and sublimate them into healthy narcissism. However, parents who are pastors often do not act as empathetic selfobjects, but rather require their children to meet strict and high standards and expectations. And it is common phenomenon for them to criticize and rebuke their children if their children do not meet the standards. Then the pastor's children will not be able to meet their narcissistic needs, and will have low self-esteem due to the lack of appropriate empathy. In this regard, this study intended to propose a method for recovering the low self-esteem of pastor's children, focusing on Heinz Kohut's self-psychology. This study has a meaning that it specifically focuses on the low self-esteem of pastor's children and attempts a systematic analysis focusing on Heinz Kohut's self-psychology. This study also summarized the pathological characteristics that pastor's children with low self-esteem may experience, and also presents dynamics and counseling methods that pastoral counselors can face. And this study attempted to restore the image of God on pastor's children as selfobject, through the traditional Christian spiritual training Lectio Divina. In the future, various counseling methodologies for self-psychology should be proposed, and with this, interest in pastors' children and their faith and psychological care should be continuously studied and practiced.
