헤테로토피아 공간관에 의한 지기구조적 패션디자인 연구

Abstract

현대사회는 한가지로 정의하기 어려운 개념들이 혼재된 시대이다. 패션디자인 역시 일차원적인 발상으로 새로운 것을 창조하기 어렵다. 전통적인 이원론에서 벗어나 낯선 것으로부터의 발상이 요구되고 있다. 이러한 패러다임 속에서 패션디자인 방법론은 다양한 이론, 현상, 경험 등 여러 영역의 교류를 통해 패션의 경계를 확장하고 있다. 이러한 다양한 접근 중에서 철학의 개념을 가져와 시각화하는 것은 새로운 아이디어의 보고가 될 수 있다. 프랑스 철학자 미셸 푸코의 헤테로토피아 개념은 공간에 대한 고정관념을 없애는 새로운 공간구성을 가능하게 하는 개념이다. 공간의 관계성과 배치에 주목하고 이질적 요소를 혼합하여 절대성을 부정한다. 패션디자인에서 형태를 구성하는데 있어 인체 공간은 주변 공간과의 관계를 형성한다. 따라서 기존 공간을 낯설게 하는 헤테로토피아 공간관은 패션디자인의 창의적 발상을 구현하기 위한 새로운 방법론의 가능성을 열어줄 것으로 판단된다. 이에 본 연구는 패션디자인의 새로운 발상을 위한 방법으로 헤테로토피아 공간관을 분석하여 디자인 개발을 위한 디자인 방법을 구축하고자 하였다. 이를 실천하기 위한 디자인 소스로 패키지디자인의 지기구조를 가져오고자 한다. 지기구조는 공간을 구성하는 원리와 과정이 의복과 유사하여 패션디자인에 대입할 형태적 근거를 가져올 수 있다. 따라서 헤테로토피아 공간관에 기반한 디자인 방법을 디자인 개발에 적용해봄으로써 창조적 표현의 가능성을 알아보고 아이디어의 실용화 가능성을 입증함에 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 방법은 문헌 연구를 통하여 헤테로토피아와 지기구조를 고찰한다. 이를 위해 관련된 각종 서적, 논문, 인터넷 웹사이트를 통하여 연구하고 사례조사와 분석을 진행하였다. 이러한 분석을 바탕으로 헤테로토피아 실천으로서 지기구조적 패션디자인을 전개하기 위한 디자인 방법을 새롭게 구축한다. 구축한 디자인 방법을 바탕으로 디자인을 전개하여 발상법의 가능성을 검증한다. 지기구조적 패션디자인의 여섯 가지 방법으로 다양한 유형의 디자인을 전개하여 지기구조를 활용한 총 6벌의 디자인을 제작한다. 헤테로토피아 실천으로서 지기구조적 패션디자인 방법을 실제 작품에 적용한 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 본 연구는 헤테로토피아 공간관의 여섯 가지 원리로부터 디자인 개념의 틀을 도출하였고 각각의 원리의 구체적인 특징들을 바탕으로 의상 형태의 확장 가능성을 열어주어 생소한 의상 공간으로 해석할 수 있도록 하였다. 둘째, 디자인 개념의 틀로부터 전개한 여섯 가지 디자인 방법으로 ‘기능의 선회를 통한 가동적 공간’은 지기구조의 디테일이 디자인의 형태 안에서 새로운 의상 디테일로 변형되어 새로움을 전할 수 있었다. ‘이동하는 공간’은 하나의 의상 형태 안에서 지기구조의 형태로 변형되면서 보여지는 여러 각도의 다면체 형태를 통한 새로운 실루엣을 가능케 하였다. ‘양면적 존재의 관계 맺음 공간’은 공존할 수 없는 평면과 입체 형태의 지기구조가 인체와 옷에 결합함으로써 양립 불가능한 공간 간의 병치를 보여주었다. ‘시간의 흐름을 축적하는 공간’은 지기구조가 접혀 완성되는 과정을 연속면의 형태로 디자인한 결과 시간의 연속성이 인체 공간에서 새로운 디자인 가능성으로 보여졌다. ‘외부의 모호한 차단을 통한 또 하나의 공간’은 의상을 지기구조 안에 담아 인체 공간을 격리하고 그 기능을 차단하여 기존의 형태와 기능의 탈피를 통해 독특한 구조로의 전환을 가져오게 하였다. ‘재정의된 공간’은 지기구조 자체가 의상으로 전환되어 예상치 못한 구조적 형태가 구현되었다. 이를 통해 철학적 개념이 디자인 발상의 근간이 되어 지기구조라는 디자인 소스를 통해 인체를 새로운 인체 공간을 만들어냄을 보여주었다. 셋째, 지기구조 디자인은 헤테로토피아 공간관을 패션디자인으로 표현하기에 흥미로운 디자인 소스였다. 지기구조의 특징을 인체와 어울려 표현한 결과 실루엣과 형태를 통해 이를 보여줄 수 있었다. 새로운 구조를 만들어 디자인을 전개하기 위해 지기구조를 의상패턴과 결합하는 방법은 평면패턴과 확대한 지기구조 도면의 평면적 결합, 의상과 지기구조의 형태적 입체 재단이었다. 지기구조의 형태가 인체와 결합했을 때 예상하지 못한 인체 부분에서 독특한 구조가 구축되어 새로운 조형미를 창출할 수 있었다. 또한, 지기구조가 갖는 각진 구조는 인체의 곡선과 어우러져 인체를 따르는 형태는 물론 인체에서 벗어난 새로운 공간을 창출할 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 넷째, 색채는 지기구조의 형태를 구조적으로 분명하게 표출할 수 있는 오프화이트를 주로 사용하면서 블랙과의 명암 대비를 통해 양립할 수 없는 공간의 공존을 효과적으로 보여줄 수 있었다. 오프화이트는 지기구조의 형태를 만드는 접힘선과 모서리를 정확하게 드러내므로 이를 통해 만든 기하학적 구조의 각진 형태가 가시적으로 뚜렷하게 드러남을 확인하였다. 다섯째, 본 작품의 소재는 쿠션지와 에어메쉬를 사용하였다. 가볍지만 두께감과 쿠션감이 있는 소재의 특성은 지기구조의 형태를 잡아주고 각을 세우는 데 효과적이었다. 본 연구는 철학적 사상을 시각화하여 새로운 디자인 발상 방법을 도출하는 데 의의가 있으며, 이를 기반으로 실제 디자인에 적용하여 그 실천 가능성을 확인하여 선행연구와의 차별성을 확인할 수 있다.;Modern society is a time of mixed concepts that are difficult to define as one. Fashion design is also difficult to create new things with one-dimensional ideas. Ideas from unfamiliarity are required beyond traditional dualism. In this paradigm, fashion design methodologies are expanding the boundaries of fashion through exchanges in various fields, including various theories, phenomena, and experiences. Among these diverse approaches, adopting and visualizing concepts of philosophy can be a repository of new ideas. The heterotopia of the French philosopher Michel Foucault is a concept that enables a new spatial composition that eliminates stereotypes about space. It focuses on the relationship and arrangement of space and denies absoluteness by mixing heterogeneous elements. In fashion design, body space forms a relationship with the surrounding space. The concept of heterotopia, which unfamiliarizes the existing space, is expected to open up the possibility of a new methodology to implement creative ideas of fashion design. This study attempted to construct a method for design development by analyzing the heterotopia as a method for a new idea of fashion design. As a source of ideas to put this into practice, we are trying to bring the structure of package design. Since the structure of package design is similar to clothing in the principle and process of composing the space, it can be the structural basis related to the fashion design. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to find out the possibility of creative expression and prove the possibility of practical use of ideas by applying a design method based on the heterotopia spatial view to design development. The method of this study examines the heterotopia and the structure of the package through literature studies. On this purpose, research was conducted through various books, papers, and Internet sites, and case studies and analysis were conducted. Based on this analysis, a new design method is constructed to develop a structured fashion design as a heterotopia. Based on the established design method, the newly way of design is developed and verified. By developing various types of designs in six ways about structured design, 6 types of the package structural fashion design are produced. The conclusion of this study, which applied the structured fashion design method to actual works as a heterotopia, is as follows. First, this study derived a design concept from the six principles of the heterotopia. Based on the specific characteristics of each principle, the concept of the human body was liberated from the existing notion, which opened up the possibility of expanding the form of clothes and allowed to interpret it as an creative and newly way of design. Second, the six specific design methods are developed from the concept of design ideas. ‘The movable space through the turning of functions’ was able to convey novelty by transforming the details of the structure into new costume details within the design form. ‘The moving space’ made it possible to design a new silhouette through the polyhedron form at various angles, which is seen as it transforms into the form of a package structure within the form of a garment. ‘Establishing a relationship of two-sided space’ made possible the juxtaposition between incompatible spaces by combining incompatible flat and three-dimensional package structures with the human body and clothes. ‘The space that accumulates the flow of time’ designs the process of folding and completing the package structure in the form of a continuous plane. As a result, the continuity of time was shown as a new design possibility in the human body space. ‘Another space through the ambiguous blocking of the outside’ brought the transformation into a unique structure by breaking away from the existing form and function by isolating the space of the human body and blocking its function by putting the costume inside the package structure. In ‘the redefined space’, an unexpected structural form was formed as the package structure was converted into a costume. Through this, the philosophical concept became the basis of the design idea and showed that the human body was recognized as another space through the source of the idea of ​​the package structure and created a new space for the human body. Third, the package design was an interesting design source for expressing heterotopia as a fashion design. As a result of expressing the characteristics of the package structure in harmony with the human body, it was possible to show this through silhouette and shape. The methods of combining the fabric structure with the garment pattern to create a new structure were the planar combination of the flat pattern and the enlarged package structure, and the dimensional draping of the garment and the package structure. Fourth, the color was able to show the coexistence of incompatible spaces through contrast with black, mainly using off-white, which can clearly show the shape of the package structure. It was confirmed that the off-white accurately reveals the fold lines and corners that make up the shape of the package structure, so that the angular shape of the geometric structure created through this is clearly and visually. Fifth, the material used in this work is light, but it has a thick and cushiony feel, which is effective in holding the shape of the base structure and erecting an angle. This study is meaningful in deriving a new design idea by visualizing philosophical thought, and by designing based on this, it can be distinguished from previous studies.
