Teaching and Learning English for Mom and Baby

Abstract

1. Introduction Target Learners: 3 to 6 years old children in Korean age Proficiency: Novice Low according to ACTFL Purpose: The purpose of this book is helping young children to become familiar with English by using different types of activities with the themes of children-friendly contents in real life. This book also includes pages for mom and baby to help moms encourage and support their child to build linguistic knowledge. Moms also can have confidence with communicative skills using sample dialogues and make study time more fun and easier. 2. Methodology Theme-Based Learning (TBL) Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) Total Physical Response (TPR) 3. Expected Outcomes and Conclusion This book is designed to motivate children’s language learning and overall communicative competence for mom as well. Children can enjoy learning English by an interactive and fun story, song, reading and crafts activities. Interactive activities boost up children’s imagination, creativity skills and develop a sense of language. Moms will be able to help children engage and scaffold in their learning.
