언런(unlearn)

Abstract

본 연구는 연구자의 예술 활동의 표현을 고정된 틀 안에 가두는 한계로 부터 벗어나기 위한 과정을 담은 논고이다. 개인은 항상 주체적으로 사유하고 행동하며 자유로운 상태라고 생각하지만, 사회 속에 형성되어 있는 고정된 틀에 의해 관습 혹은 고정관념 속에서 스스로의 모습을 제한한다. 연구자는 창작의 근본이 되어야하는 예술활동이 스스로를 규정지어버리는 틀이 생겼음을 인식하게 되었다. 피동적으로 따르던 것들은 시간이 지남에 따라 결국 연구자를 무의식적으로 억압하고 무기력하게 만드는 존재가 되었고, 그 근원은 재현적이고 정형화된 입시교육의 방식에 대해 회의감을 느끼며 본 연구는 시작되었다. 연구를 하기 앞서 도예 비전공자와 전공자들에게 설문조사를 진행하였다. 이 설문조사를 통해 연구자가 예술활동을 하면서 느꼈던 한계가 단지 개인의 고민이 아닌 다수가 경험하는 어려움이라는 결과를 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 본 연구는 도자 작업을 하면서 겪었는 연구자의 한계를 극복하며, 더 나아가 도자의 한정된 인식을 깨기 위한 중요한 의의를 갖는다. 이와 같은 연구 목적에 따라 배운 것을 고의적으로 잊는 언런(unlearn)을 행하고자 한다. 언런이란‘런(learn)’의 반대말로,‘반(反)학습’의 의미, 즉 배운 것을 고의로 지워버리는 것이다. 연구자의 예술활동에 있어 한계를 극복해가기 위한 언런의 과정을 외상의 충격으로 인해 발생하는 증후로 보이는 반복적 증상인 반복강박, 기존 질서를 무너뜨려 고의적으로 왜곡시키는 데포르마시옹, 원본과 복제물의 경계를 없애고 복제물이 갖는 새로운 가치와 가능성을 부여한 시뮬라크르와 같은 방법론을 통해 살펴보았다. 또한 앞서 살펴본 방법론을 토대로 다양한 매체로 표현하는 예술가들의 작품을 살펴보며 더 깊은 이해를 할 수 있었다. 이론적 연구가 배경이 되어 다양한 방법론을 통해 언런의 과정을 도자 작업으로 전개하였다. 연구자에게 점토는 자유로운 표현을 구현해 낼 수 있는 적절한 매체이다. 다른 도구를 사용하는 것이 아닌 신체인 손을 사용하여 갇혀 있던 틀을 무너뜨리고 그것을 다시 연구자의 시각으로 재해석하는 과정은 큰 의의를 갖는다. 본 연구는 예술활동을 하면서 생기는 고정된 관념에서 끊임없이 벗어나 새로운 가능성을 가진 본인을 발견하고, 연구자의 예술세계를 구축할 수 있는 긍정적인 영향을 갖는 계기가 되기를 바란다.;This study is a thesis about the process of getting out of the limits of locking up the expression of a researcher's artistic activities within a fixed framework. An individual always thinks that they act or speculate independently and freely. However, most of people are whether consciously or unconsciously fixed by framework already formed in society, limiting their appearance in customs or stereotypes. Researcher have come to recognize that the art activities should be the basis of creation. But created framework that defines themselves through the education which is for the university entrance examination that researcher have received. Those that followed passively became unconscious oppressors and makes researcher lethargic over time. And this study began with skepticism about the representational and formalized way of university entrance examination education. To begin with, a survey was conducted on who are ceramic art major and none-ceramic art major. The survey confirmed that the limitations that researcher felt during their artistic activities were not just personal concerns, but also others felt difficulties. Therefore, this research has important signify to overcome the limitations of researcher to overcome. In the future, to break the limited perception of ceramics and ceramic art. Base on the purpose of the research, we would like to conduct a" unlearn" that deliberately forgets what we have learned. Unlearn is the opposite of "learn," meaning "anti-learning," meaning deliberately erasing what we have learned. The process of unlearning is to overcome limitations in a researcher's artistic activities, such as" Repetition Compulsions", a recurring symptom that appears to be a symptom caused by a trauma shock," Deformations" that breaks down the existing order and deliberately distorts it, and "Simulacre" that removes boundaries between the original and the replica and gives new values and possibilities to the clone. In addition, researcher was able to gain a deeper understanding looking at the works of artists expressed based on various media with the methodological way. With the theoretical research, the researcher developed the process of unlearn into ceramic work through various methodologies. For researcher, clay is an appropriate medium that gives freedom of expressions. The process of using the own bare hands without using tools to break down the locked frame and reinterpret it from the researcher's perspective means great significance. I hope this study will be an opportunity to constantly break away from the fixed ideas that arise from artistic activities. And more, find myself with new possibilities and have a positive influence to build up the world of researchers' art.
