칼 융의 자기실현을 바탕으로 한 무용창작작품「나를 향해 질문하다.」에 관한 연구

Abstract

오늘날 통신의 발달이 가속화된 현대사회를 살아가는 사람들은 타인과 끊임없는 소통을 통해 정보를 공유하며 불특정한 사람들과 교류하게 되었다. 이러한 통신기술의 발달은 현대인에게 정보교류의 편의를 제공해 주었지만 한 개인이 속해있는 집단의 범위가 넓어짐에 따라 남에게 보여지는 자신의 모습에 집착하게 되면서 사람들은 자신의 본성을 잃어가게 되었다. 따라서 연구자는 다양한 사회적 관계 속에서 정체성을 잃어가는 현대인들의 문제를 인식하고 급변화하는 현대사회에서 자신의 정체성을 확고히 하기 위해 자기실현의 필요성을 제기하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 칼 구스타프 융의 자기실현이론을 바탕으로 한 무용창작작품「나를 향해 질문하다.」(2016)을 창작하고 이를 분석한 것이다. 주제 및 내용, 장면별 구성과 공간사용, 이동경로와 움직임, 오브제의 의미를 중심으로 작품의 주제를 부각시킬 수 있도록 안무하였으며, 장면별로 무대의 공간사용을 다르게 설정하고 상징적인 오브제를 사용하여 작품의 주제를 더욱 효과적으로 전달하고자 하였다. 광범위해진 네트워크의 사회 속에서 타인과 소통하지 못하고 자신의 정체성에 대해 혼란을 겪는 현대인들의 문제를 인지하고 융의 자기실현이론 중 무의식을 의식화하는 과정을 통해 이를 극복할 수 있음을 주제로 하여 총 세 개의 장으로 구성하여 작품을 전개하였다. 작품의 1장은 일상의 공간으로, 인간은 사회적 존재로서 타인들과의 관계를 유지하기 위해 노력하는데, 소통을 위한 노력에 수반되는 갈등과 고민을 표현하였다. 이와 같은 내용을 표현하기 위해 무대 하수 뒤 구역에 설치된 오브제의 뒤 공간을 A공간으로 설정하였으며, 타인과 소통하지 못하고 고립된 채 반복되는 일상을 살아가는 인간의 모습을 부각시키고자 공간을 제한하여 전개하였다. 무용수는 오브제인 비닐 뒤의 공간에서 뒷모습으로만 움직이는 장면들을 통해 외부와의 소통을 거부하고 차단되어 있는 모습을 나타내고자 하였으며, 손을 빠르게 떨며 시선을 여러 번 좌우로 전환하는 동작을 통해 현대인의 불안과 같은 부정적인 심리를 표현하였다. 또한 웅성거리는 사람들의 말소리와 같은 일상의 다양한 효과음을 1장의 도입부에 사용해 현대사회에서 반복되고 일률적인 일상을 살아가는 현대인의 모습을 강조하고자 하였다. 2장은 갈등이 내적으로 심화되는 자아탐구의 공간으로, 타인과의 소통에서 오는 갈등이 고조되어 자신이 누구인지 모르는 정체성을 상실한 혼란과 번뇌, 주체성을 상실함에 따라 무의식의 어두운 부분에서 헤어 나오지 못하는 두렵고 초조한 심리상태를 나타내고자 하였다. 이를 위해 무대상수 구역을 B공간으로 설정하고 자아의 깊은 무의식에 빠져 내적갈등이 심화 되는 상황을 조명의 조도를 낮추어 어두운 분위기를 조성하여 나타내면서, B공간에 무질서하게 교차 되는 곡선 패턴의 조명을 사용해 자아탐구과정에서 오는 복잡한 심경을 조명의 효과를 통해 강조하고자 하였다. 무용수는 곡선 패턴의 조명 위에서 두 손을 잡고 상체를 흔드는 동작을 구사하며 무의식의 어두운 면에서 빠져나오지 못하는 모습을 나타내었고 2장의 마지막 부분에서는 팔을 뻗으며 위로 크게 점프하는 동작을 사용해 무의식의 상태에서 벗어나고 싶은 적극적 의지를 나타내었다. 3장은 자기실현이 이루어지는 공간으로, 일상의 공간인 A공간과 자아탐구 공간인 B공간을 포함하는 C공간으로 공간의 사용 범위를 확장하여 외부적인 문제와 내적 혼란을 스스로 인지하고 진정한 자신의 정체성을 찾음으로써 자기실현을 이루는 모습을 나타내었다. 자기원형을 탐구하는 만다라 그림을 조명으로 시각화하여 작품의 주제를 효과적으로 전달하고자 하였고, 외부와의 차단과 자기방어적 의미를 갖는 비닐을 구기는 행위를 통해 자기실현에 대한 강한 의지를 나타내었다. 또한 1장에서 사용한 효과음을 3장에서 다시 사용하며 동일한 환경 속에서도 불필요한 자극들에 반응하지 않고 외부적 억압으로부터 벗어남을 무용수의 자유로워진 움직임을 통해 진정한 자기실현의 상태에 이르렀음을 표현하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 광범위해진 네트워크의 발달로 인간관계에서 오는 소통의 문제와 이에 따른 개인의 주체성 상실에 대한 모습을 다룬 무용창작작품「나를 향해 질문하다.」을 통해 융이 자기실현 개념에서 언급한 무의식을 의식화하는 과정의 중요성을 강조하고 개인의 주체성이 확고히 성립되었을 때 현대사회 안에서 균형잡힌 삶을 살아갈 수 있음을 이야기하고자 하였다.;Today, people living in modern society where the development of telecommunication has accelerated have come to interact with unspecific people by sharing information through constant communication with others. The development of communication technology has provided convenience for information exchange to modern people but people have lost their true character as they became obsessed with how they may appear to others. Therefore, this study intended to recognize the problems of modern people losing their identity in various social relationships and to raise the need for self-realization to establish identity in a rapidly changing modern society. The researcher created and analyzed the newly choreographed work, 「Asking a Question to Myself」(2016) based on Carl Gustav Jung's self-realization theory. The researcher choreographed to highlight the theme, focusing on the topic and content, composition by scene, use of space, moving path, movement, and meaning of the objet, and intended to convey the topic more effectively by setting the space usage on the stage differently for each scene and using symbolic objets. The work was developed into three scenes in total on the subject of being able to overcome the problems of modern people by recognizing these problems of modern people who are unable to communicate with others in a broadened network society and are confused about their identity through the process of becoming aware of unconsciousness among Carl Jung's theory of self-realization. Humans are social beings who strive to maintain relationships with others and Scene 1 on space of everyday expressed conflicts and worries that accompany efforts for communication. To express this content, space behind the objet set up in the area behind the stage left was established as Space A, and developed the content in limited space to highlight the aspect of people of becoming isolated and living a repetitive daily life without communicating with others. Dancers intended to express the image of people becoming excluded by refusing to communicate with the outside world through the scenes of dancers' appearance from the back moving in the space behind the objet vinyl, and expressed negative mentality of modern people as anxiety through the movement of shaking hands quickly and shifting their gaze from side to side several times. Also, various sound effects of everyday life as the rumbling voices of people were used in the opening of Scene 1 to emphasize the image of modern people living in repetitive and monotonous everyday life in modern society. Scene 2, the place of self-discovery where conflict becomes intensified internally, intended to express confusion and anguish of people losing their identity of not know who they are when conflict that comes from communication with others has escalated and to express fearful and nervous state of mind in which one cannot escape from the dark side of unconsciousness as people lose their identity. To this end, the researcher set the stage left as Space B and created a dark atmosphere to express a situation in which internal conflict becomes intensified by falling into deep unconsciousness by lowering illumination intensity, and used disorderly intersecting curve pattern of lighting in Space B to emphasize mixed feelings that come from the process of self-exploration. A dancer expressed an image of not being able to escape from the dark side of unconsciousness by using a movement of holding hands and shaking the upper body on a curved pattern of lighting, and expressed an active will of wanting to get out of the state of unconsciousness at the end of Scene 2 by using a movement of stretching arms out and jumping up high. Space C in Scene 3, space where self-realization takes place and includes space A, the space of daily life, and space B, the space of self-exploration, showed an image of achieving self-realization by recognizing external problems and inner turmoil and finding true identity by expanding the range of space. The researcher intended to convey the theme effectively by visualizing a mandala painting of exploring magnetic circles, and expressed a strong will for self-realization through the movement of crumpling plastic that signifies cutting off the outside world and self-defense. Also, the researcher intended to express that the dancers have reached a state of true self-realization by choreographing the movement of dancers that became free of not responding to unnecessary stimuli in the same environment and escaping from external suppression by reusing the same sound effects used in Scene 1. This study intended to emphasize the problem of communication arising from human relationships due to the development of a broadened network, to emphasize the importance of the process of making unconsciousness into consciousness that Jung has mentioned through「Asking a Question to Myself」 that expressed an image of losing personal identity, and to mention that people can live a balanced life in modern society when personal identity is firmly established.
