Abstract

This study is the commentary based on the master’s degree graduation recital programs the author performed, including 「Toccata in D Major, BWV912」 by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750), 「Piano Sonata in D Major, Op.10 No.3」by Ludwig Van Beethoven (1770-1827), 「Ballade No.2 in B minor, S.171」 by Franz Liszt(1811-1886) and 「Sarcasms, Op,17」by Sergei Prokofiev(1891-1953) and it outlines in the chronological order of the composers. Johann Sebastian Bach composed all works but not opera throughout his life. In particular, he played an important role in developing the keyboard, which was a concerto, into a solo instrument. <Toccata in D Major, BWV912> was composed during the first period of Bach's composition, Mülhausen period, in 1707, and was uniquely prolific, consists of the six parts of his Toccata. There are many similarities between the themes of each part that unify the entire piece, and the music continues to flow through half cadence. The period of composition of Ludwig Van Beethoven, who represented the classical age and served as a bridge to the romantic age, can be divided into three periods: early, mid and late. <Piano Sonata in D Major, Op.10 No.3> consists of four movements, the early sonata that followed classical traditions and made ingenious attempt. The theme motivations are developed and reproduced in various ways throughout all the movements, representing Beethoven's musical characteristics that lead to dramatic turn. Franz Liszt wrote two ballads inspired by four ballads of Fryderyk Francois Chopin. <Ballade No.2 in B minor, S.171> belongs to a free and lyrical instrumental genre called ballade on the plot of Greek Roman mythology. Structurally using a sonata form which consists of the three sections including exposition, development, recapitulation and has two contrasting themes, but each of them is characterized by a free romantic era in which the length, speed, and tonality. Sergei Prokofiev is a representative neoclassical composer of the 20th century, confusing era. the period of his work is divided into three periods around his stint. <Sarcasms, Op,17>, a suite of five pieces, was an early work he composed in Russia before defecting to the United States and Paris, characterize his musical hallmarks such as The Classical elements, The Modern elements, The Toccata elements, The Lyrical elements and The Grotesque elements.;본 논문은 본인의 석사과정 졸업연주 프로그램인 요한 세바스티안 바흐(Johann Sebastian Bach, 1685-1750)의 「Toccata in D Major, BWV912」, 루트비히 반 베토벤(Ludwig Van Beethoven, 1770-1827)의 「Piano Sonata in D Major, Op.10 No.3」, 프란츠 리스트(Franz Liszt, 1811-1886)의 「Ballade No.2 in B minor, S.171」, 세르게이 프로코피에프(Sergei Prokofiev, 1891-1953)의 「Sarcasms, Op,17」에 대한 작품해설로 작곡가의 시대순으로 기술하였다. 요한 세바스티안 바흐(Johann Sebastian Bach, 1685-1750)는 전 생애에 걸쳐 오페라를 제외한 모든 작품을 작곡하였는데, 특히 협주 악기였던 건반악기가 독주 악기로 발전하는 데 중요한 역할을 하였다. 「Toccata in D Major, BWV912」는 1707년, 바흐의 작곡 시기 중 제1기인 뮐하우젠(Mülhausen)시기에 작곡된 곡으로 그의 토카타 중 유일하게 6부분으로 구성된, 외적으로 가장 큰 작품이다. 곡 전체를 통일하는 각 부분 주제 소재 간 유사성이 많으며 반종지를 통해 음악이 계속적으로 흐르는 특징이 있다. 고전시대를 대표하며 낭만시대로의 가교 역할을 했던 루트비히 반 베토벤(Ludwig Van Beethoven, 1770-1827)의 작곡시기는 초기, 중기, 후기의 세 시기로 나눌 수 있다. 「Piano Sonata in D Major, Op.10 No.3」은 고전적 전통을 따르면서도 독창적인 시도를 했던 초기 소나타로 4악장으로 구성되어 있다. 주제적 동기가 전악장에 걸쳐 다양하게 발전, 재현되며 극적인 전개를 이끌어 가는 베토벤의 음악적 특징을 잘 나타낸다. 프란츠 리스트는 프레드릭 쇼팽(Fryderyk Francois Chopin, 1810-1849)의 4개의 발라드에 영감을 받아 2개의 발라드를 작곡했는데「Ballade No.2 in B minor, S.171」는 그리스 로마신화의 줄거리를 주제로 한 서정시적 기악곡이다. 대조되는 2개의 선율 주제를 각각 1주제, 2주제로 제시부, 발전부, 재현부, 코다의 구분이 명확한 소나타 형식으로 작곡되었으나 각각의 길이와 빠르기의 변화, 조성관계가 자유로운 낭만시대의 특징을 띄고 있다. 세르게이 프로코피에프(Sergei Prokofiev, 1891-1953)는 혼란스러웠던 20세기의 대표적인 신고전주의 작곡가로, 그의 작품 시기는 그가 활동지를 중심으로 세 시기로 구분된다. 5개의 소품으로 이루어진 모음곡인 「Sarcasms, Op,17」은 그가 미국과 파리로 망명하기 전 러시아에서 활동하며 작곡했던 초기 작품으로 그의 음악적 특징인 고전적 요소(The Classical elements), 현대적 요소(The Modern elements), 토카타적 요소(The Toccata elements), 서정적 요소(The Lyrical elements), 기괴함적 요소(The Grotesque elements)가 잘 드러나 있다.
