어머니의 양육행동과 중학생의 자기결정성 동기가 자기조절학습에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 어머니의 양육행동이 중학생의 자기조절학습에 미치는 직접적 영향과 중학생의 자기결정성 동기를 통한 간접적 영향을 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위해 중학교 1-3학년 학생 306명(남학생 91명, 여학생 215명)을 대상으로 질문지법을 이용하여 자료를 수집하였다. 어머니의 양육행동은 Skinner, Johnson과 Snyder(2005)가 개발하고, 김태명과 이은주(2017)가 번안 및 타당화한 한국판 청소년용 동기모형 부모양육태도척도(Parents as Social Context Questionnaire [PSCQ_A])를 사용해 측정하였다. 중학생의 자기결정성 동기는 Ryan과 Connell(1989)의 자기조절 설문지-학업(Self-Regulation Questionnaire-Academic [SRQ-A]) 척도를 기초로 하여 Kim(2002)이 개발한 일반적 학업상황에서 사용할 수 있는 ‘한국판 학업적 자기조절 설문지’를 김아영(2002)이 타당성을 검증하고 개정(김아영, 2008a)한 척도를 사용하여 측정하였다. 자기조절학습은 양명희(2000)의 자기조절학습 척도를 수정한 한정선과 김세영(2006)의 척도를 사용하여 측정하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 22.0 프로그램을 사용해 상관관계분석을 실시하였고, Amos 23.0 프로그램을 사용해 구조방정식(Structural Equation Modeling [SEM]) 모형을 분석하였다. 또한 간접효과의 유의성을 평가하기 위해 부트스트랩핑(bootstrapping) 방법을 사용하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어머니의 양육행동은 중학생의 자기조절학습에 직접적인 영향을 미치지 않았다. 둘째, 어머니의 양육행동은 중학생의 자기결정성 동기를 통해 자기조절학습에 간접적인 영향을 미쳐, 어머니의 양육행동이 긍정적일수록 중학생의 자기결정성 동기가 높았으며, 이는 높은 자기조절학습으로 이어졌다. 이러한 간접효과는 통계적으로 유의하였다. 본 연구는 환경적 요인인 어머니의 양육행동이 개인 내적 요인인 중학생의 자기결정성 동기를 통해 자기조절학습에 영향을 미치는 경로를 확인하였다. 특히 본 연구는 부모의 양육행동, 자녀의 자기결정성 동기 및 자기조절학습의 일부 변인만을 포함하였던 선행연구를 확장하여, 각 개념을 포괄하는 하위요인을 사용하여 변인 간의 관계를 살펴보았다. 또한 자기결정성 이론의 기본개념 중 하나인 기본심리욕구를 바탕으로 한 어머니의 양육행동 척도를 사용하여 학습자의 자기결정성 동기를 촉진하는 양육행동을 구체적으로 알아보았다. 본 연구의 결과는 학업성취압력이 만연한 현대사회에서 사교육 등의 강제적인 방법보다는 자발적인 흥미를 가지고 학습에 참여하는 것이 중학생 학습자들의 학습효과를 더 높일 수 있다는 시사점을 제공한다. 이는 청소년의 자기조절학습 증진을 위한 학업 관련 프로그램이나 부모교육 프로그램을 개발하기 위한 기초자료로 활용됨으로써 청소년의 교육 환경을 개선하는 데 도움이 될 수 있을 것이다.;The purpose of this study was to examine a direct effect of maternal parenting behaviors on middle school students ’self-regulated learning and an indirect influence of maternal parenting behaviors on self-regulated learning through middle school student's self-determination motivation. A total of 306 7st, 8th, and 9th grade middle school students (91 males and 215 females) participated in this study. They responded to questions regarding their mothers’ l parenting behaviors, their self-determination motivation and self-regulated learning. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The main findings of this study were as follows: First, maternal parenting behaviors did not have a direct effect on middle school student’s self-regulated learning. Second, maternal parenting behaviors had an indirect effect on self-regulated learning through middle school student's self-determination motivation. That is, the more positive the mother's parenting behaviors were, the higher the middle school student's self-determination motivation, which led to higher self-regulated learning. In addition, an indirect effects was statistically significant. This study contributed to the field by examining effects of both positive and negative parenting on cognitive, motivational, and behavioral aspects of self-regulated learning. Furthermore, this study aimed to identify parenting behaviors that promote self-determination motivation by adapting a measure of maternal parenting behaviors based on the basic psychological needs, one of the principle concepts of self determination theory. The result of this study suggests that in present society where pressure for academic achievement is great for students, voluntary participation with interest-based learning can result in increase of the efficiency and production of learning in middle school students in comparison to those who involuntarily participate, for example through private education. Moreover, such result can be utilized in a development of self-regulated learning programs for teenagers or parental education programs to improve the learning environment for students.
