- Abstract
- The purpose of this textbook is to enable Cambodian middle school students to learn English skills under the theme of Christian songs. The target learners are Middle school students in grade 9, both male and female. Their proficiency is ACTFL Intermediate-Low. The learning context is an EFL class that runs for 2 hours, once a week. The class switches back and forth offline and online according to each part of the chapter. Methods include Theme Based Instruction, Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), Multiple Intelligence (MI) and Blended Learning. Christian songs have lyrics that are founded on Scripture and convey truth, love and wisdom. They have melodies that touch and bring hope to the heart of those who sing them. This process would create a beautiful atmosphere where learners are healed by the music and can express their hearts while using English. Learners would also be able to learn linguistic elements effectively through meaningful contexts that are thread by a single theme. Though this textbook is designed for Cambodian students, the contents can be applied in other Christian EFL classes.
