Entrepreneurship is highly considered a turning point for women’s empowerment irrespective of the underlying perceived restrictions created by patriarchy and gender stereotypes in many Ugandan societies which limiting women’s economic empowerment. Entrepreneurship training is among the several approaches which the Ugandan government has adopted to increase women’s entrepreneurship potential and strengthen women’s capabilities to elevate the socioeconomic status of women through promotion of entrepreneurship as tool to enable their equivalent participation in the economic development of the country. While enduring the low literacy levels of women, information gaps in starting and operating business and the prevailing challenges, Uganda is currently registering increasing numbers of women owned enterprises but a concern regarding the life span of these businesses is still crucial issue given that the study’s literature indicated minimum survival rated for women’s enterprises beyond 42 months. With specific interest in entrepreneurship training, the impact of this approach on elevating the status of women’s business remains debatable. This study aimed to investigate whether the effort made in empowering women with entrepreneurship skills training has enabled significant positive impact on performance of women entrepreneurs’ businesses. The findings of the study indicate that entrepreneurship training is significant in performance of women entrepreneurs’ businesses although this training alone is not sufficient in improving performance of their businesses due to other factors such as financial assistance, business knowledge sharing and networking, innovation and creativity, gender responsive trade policies, government and family support which are also crucial in enhancing performance of women’s businesses. Entrepreneurship training is also believed to influence change of attitude and improves women’s entrepreneurial self-efficacy. A total of 44 women beneficiaries of the entrepreneurship training programme at the Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) participated in the survey.-
