Program Annotation

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to thoroughly analyze my master degree recital program. The works are as follows: 《Three Browning Songs, Op. 44》 composed by Amy Marcy Cheney Beach (1867-1944), and <Nunca olvida (Never forget)>, <Cantares (Songs) >, and <Las locas por amor (Women passionate for love)> from 《Poema en Forma de Canciones (Poem in the form of songs), Op. 19》 written by Joaquín Turina (1882-1949). 《Three Browning Songs, Op. 44》, composed with a setting of poems by Robert Browning (1812-1889), show respective themes: praising the beauty of spring, sorrow over broken love, and a love serenade. Beach utilized many musical techniques to deliver delicate emotions, such as repeating words, repetitive triplets, temporary beat transitions, scale sequences, enharmonic changes, chromatic scales, diminished fifth chords, ninth chords of V augmented chords, repetition of the main melody, arpeggio sounds, continued chords, transiting chords, and augmented triads. 《Poema en Forma de Canciones (Poem in the form of songs), Op. 19》, composed by Spanish nationalist composer Turina, was based on a love poetry of a Spanish realism poet, Ramón de Campoamor (1817-1901). The song cycle is consisted of one solo piano and four vocal pieces. Turina fully expressed Spanish ethnicity through utilizing Spanish folk music elements: D Aeolian scales, F Lydian scales, E Phrygian scales, melisma emulated from rasgueado, modified polo rhythms, short and simple ornaments, hemiola, and pentatonic scales. ;본 논문은 필자의 석사과정 이수를 위한 졸업 연주 프로그램 관련 연구로, 그 중 에이미 비치(Amy Marcy Cheney Beach, 1867-1944)의《세 개의 브라우닝 노래(Three Browning Songs, Op.44)》와 호아킨 투리나(Joaquín Turina, 1882-1949)의《가곡 형식의 시 (Poema en Forma de Canciones, Op. 19)》중 제 2곡 <결코 잊지 않으리 (Nunca olvida)>, 제 3곡 <노래 (Cantares)>, 제 5곡 <사랑에 흠뻑 빠진 여인들 (Las locas por amor)>에 대한 분석 연구이다. 로버트 브라우닝(Robert Browning, 1812-1889)의 시를 가사로 사용한 비치의《세 개의 브라우닝 노래》는 각각 봄의 도래에 대한 예찬, 변치 않는 사랑을 갈망하는 애절함, 사랑하는 연인에게 부르는 세레나데를 주제로 하고 있다. 시어 반복, 셋잇단음표 반복, 일시적 박자 변화, 동형 진행, 이명동음, 반음계적 진행, 감5도 진행, V 증화음의 9화음, 주제 선율 반복, 아르페지오 음형, 지속화음, 전조, 증3화음 등과 같은 다양한 음악 기법이 사용되어 곡 중 화자의 심정을 섬세하게 묘사한다. 스페인의 민족주의 작곡가인 투리나의 연가곡《가곡 형식의 시》는 스페인의 사실주의 시인 라몬 데 깜뽀아모르(Ramón de Campoamor,1817-1901)의 사랑을 주제로 한 시로 작곡되었으며 피아노 독주곡 1곡과 성악곡 4곡, 총 5곡으로 이루어져 있다. 그는 이 작품에서 D 에올리안 선법, F 리디안 선법, E 프리지안 선법, 라스게아도를 모방한 멜리즈마, 변형된 폴로 리듬, 짧고 간단한 꾸밈음, 헤미올라, 5음 음계 등이 포함된 스페인의 민속 음악 요소를 사용함으로써 스페인의 민족 정서를 효과적으로 표현하였다.
