- Abstract
- This thesis describes a symmetric current-conveyor transimpedance amplifier (SCC-TIA) and a mirrored current-conveyor transimpedance amplifier (MCC-TIA) as an analog front-end(AFE) circuit for LiDAR applications which provide no signal loss and wide input dynamic range characteristics.
First, the SCC-TIA is realized in a 0.13-μm CMOS process, where a modified-cascode configuration is newly suggested as an input current buffer so as to convey the incoming photocurrents to a following voltage-mode inverter TIA with no signal loss. Measured results of the proposed SCC-TIA demonstrate 69-dBΩ transimpedance gain, 410-MHz bandwidth, 13-pA/ sqrt(Hz) average noise current spectral density, and 20-mW power consumption from a single 1.2-V supply. Chip core occupies the area of 280 x 130 mm^2.
Second, the MCC-TIA is realized in a standard 65-nm CMOS technology in which the MCC input configuration is proposed to lower the input impedance for wide bandwidth, thus enabling the restoration of narrow pulse-width. Also, a feedforward control-voltage generator (FCG) is newly suggested to achieve automatic gain-control within a single pulse-width. Measured results of the MCC-TIA demonstrate a variable transimpedance
gain of 59~77 dBΩ to recover a wide input current range from 18 μApp to 2.24 mApp, which corresponds to the detection range of 0.5~5.3 meters. Accordingly, the bandwidth of the MCC-TIA is achieved to be 0.083~2.6 GHz with the minimum noise current spectral density of 16.8 pA/sqrt(Hz). The chip dissipates 40 mW, and occupies the area of 1.0 mm^2,including I/O pads.
Hence, the proposed current-conveyor TIAs provide a low-cost, low-power, small form-factor solution suitable for the imminent applications of elder-care LiDAR systems.;본 논문에서는 신호의 손실이 없고 넓은 입력 다이나믹 레인지를 갖는 아날로그 프론트 엔드(AFE)를 만들 수 있는 새로운 구조의 대칭형 전류 전달 트랜스임피던스 증폭기(SCC-TIA)와 복사형 전류 전달 트랜스임피던스 증폭기(MCC-TIA)를 다룬다.
