Abstract
요하네스 브람스(Johannes Brahms, 1833-1897)는 독일의 대표적 작곡가이자 피아니스트, 지휘자로 활동했던 음악가이다. 그는 출신지인 독일을 비롯하여 오스트리아 빈에서 음악활동을 하였고, 구조나 작곡기법 면에서는 바로크와 고전음악에 뿌리를 두고 있는 대표적인 신고전주의 작곡가이다. 그는 오페라와 표제음악을 작곡하지 않았고 4개의 교향곡과 피아노곡, 가곡, 실내악 곡 등 많은 작품을 작곡했다. 실내악 분야에서는 현악 4중주, 피아노 3중주, 바이올린 소나타, 첼로 소나타와 호른 3중주, 클라리넷 5중주 등 24개의 실내악 곡을 작곡하였고 이 중 17곡은 피아노가 포함된 실내악 작품이다. 작곡가이면서 뛰어난 피아니스트였던 브람스는 피아노가 포함된 실내악분야를 개척하고 발전시켰고 교향곡과 실내악 분야에서 음악사적으로 중요한 평가를 받는 작품들을 많이 작곡했다. 본 논문에서 연구할 Viola Sonata No.2 in E♭ Major, Op. 120은 원래 클라리넷 소나타로 작곡되었으나 그의 친구이자 바이올리니스트인 요하임의 제안으로 비올라 소나타로 브람스가 직접 편곡을 하였다. 브람스 음악어법의 원숙미를 잘 보여주는 이 곡은 원곡 클라리넷 소나타 못지않게 비올라 소나타로 많이 연주되며 비올라의 주요 레퍼토리로 자리매김하였다. 본 논문에서는 Viola Sonata No.2 in E♭ Major, Op. 120의 작품배경과 전체적인 음악적 구조, 형식, 화성, 선율, 리듬 등을 분석해 보고 그가 이 곡을 통해 표현하고자 했던 음악적 요소와 그의 음악어법, 나아가 브람스의 생애 및 그의 음악적 특징과 실내악 작품에 대해 심도 있게 연구해보자 한다. ;Johannes Brahms(1833-1897) is German composer, pianist and conductor. He worked in Vienna, Austria, as well as Germany where he was born. He is a representative Neo-Classicalism Music composer who is rooted in Baroque and classical music in terms of structure and composition techniques. He did not compose opera and program music, but composed many works including four symphonies and piano pieces, lyric songs and chamber music. He composed twenty four chamber music including string quartet, piano trio, violin sonata, cello sonata, horn trio and clarinet quintet. Seventeen of them are chamber music with piano. He pioneered and developed the field of chamber music with piano. J. Brahms’ has composed many works that are considered important in music history in the field of symphonies and chamber music. , studying in this paper, is originally written as a clarinet sonata. However, J. Brahms’ himself arranged into a viola sonata at the suggestion of his friend and violinist, Joseph Joachim This piece, which shows the maturity of Brahms’ musical idiom is played on the viola as often as the original clarinet sonatas. The sonatas has become a major repertoire of violas. In this paper, I will analyze the background of the works of and the overall musical structure, form, harmony, melody, and rhythm of the songs. Furthermore, I studied the musical elements and J.Brahms’ life, musical idiom and his characteristics in his chamber music.
