Abstract
As the role of surface nanodroplets became important in a broad range of applications in science and engineering, a fine control of nanodroplets emerged as a demanding tool in nanoscale engineering. In our study, we present a molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to study the formation and directional growth of Lennard Jones (LJ) nanodroplets on the complex surface which is half flat and half V-grooved. Regardless of the initial density of droplet on the V-grooved surface while density of droplet on the flat surface is fixed, droplets directionally grow on the V-grooved surface. Cluster size analysis was performed to further understand the mechanism of droplet formation on the V-grooved surface. Simulation trajectories and cluster size analysis confirmed that LJ droplets directionally grow on the V-grooved surface via Ostwald ripening. Control of molecular ordering in nanoscale can be utilized in various applications of nanoengineering. Nanoposts array is known to provide a confining and partitioning environment for molecular ordering. We investigated on the confinement effect of nanoposts array on the molecular ordering of hard rods. Monte Carlo (MC) simulations were performed with an infinitely stiff hard-sphere chain with 20 monomers. We varied the dimensions of nanoposts array and the volume fraction of hard rods in this study. Order parameter, phase diagram, and spatial distribution of molecular ordering are given to prove that the enhancement of nematic ordering is most significant when the width of the passage between nearest nanoposts is 5 times larger than the diameter of the hard rod, and confinement effect of nanoposts array is distinct in the narrowing region, in the center of the inter-post space, and in the passage between nanoposts.;표면 나노 방울의 역할이 과학 및 공학기술의 광범위한 응용 분야에서 점점 더 중요해짐에 따라 나노 방울의 미세 조절은 나노 기술 공학에서 요구되는 중요한 도구로 부상했습니다.
