Abstract

이집트투데이(2019)를 통한 월드뱅크(World Bank) 중동ᆞ북아프리카 지역 부사장가 “이집트는 극도로 빠르지만 잘 개혁해왔기 때문에 이러한 추진력을 유지할 필요가 있다.”고 발언 하였다. 이후, 이 발언을 토대로 이집트의 개혁 수준을 지속가능하고, 최대 수준으로 보장하기 위해 Development wheel에서의 여성 참여가 요구되어왔다. 또한, 여성 기업가를 격려하고 지원하는 것은 여성의 경제적 역량 강화 방법이며 (Balasundaram, Absar, and Akhter 2010), 이는 경제성장을 신장시킬 뿐만 아니라 노동인구를 다각화하고 소득 평등을 증가시킴으로써 개발 성과를 개선시킬 수 있고, 경제적 유연성과 탄력성을 결과로 얻을 수 있다(IMF 2018). 하지만 이집트는 창업 지원 시스템 안에서 여성 기업가들로서 필요한 요구사항을 충족시키지 못하여 상당수의 여성 참여를 잃을 수 있는 상황이다. 이러한 요구 사항들은 기업가 생태계에서 중요한 역할을 하는 것인데 이러한 요구 사항을 충족 시키는 것은 여성 기업가들의 역량을 강화 하고 여성 기업가들에게 장애가 되는 요소를 제거하여 여성사업가 정신에 중요하게 작용한다. 잠재적 여성 기업가들은 기업가로서의 삶 동안 수 많은 도전들과 장벽들을 맞닥뜨린다. 여성 기업가들에게는 재정적 접근이 더 어렵기 때문에 그들의 기업은 결국 부트스트랩 형태의 기업이 된다. 이는 여성 기업가들의 사업 성장에 제약을 주며 마케팅에 필요한 자금을 얻을 기회를 빼앗고 상품 품질을 떨어뜨린다 (Kenton 2019). 여성의 이동성 한계, 사회적 활동 제한, 그리고 비즈니스 능력의 부족은 여성 기업가로 하여금 기업가로서 기회가 될 수 있는 기회를 박탈 당하게 한다. 뿐만 아니라 여성 사업가들은 남성 사업가들과 동등한 입장에서 경쟁할 수 있게 하기 위하여 더 많은 준비와 비즈니스 능력 개발이 필요하다. 이 연구는 창업보육시설이 여성 기업가들에게 눈에 띄는 영향력을 미칠 수 있으며 여성 기업가 정신에 보다 더 효율적인 점을 시사한다. 이는 여성과 남성 기업가들의 기술적 성별 격차를 좁혀주고, 여성기업가들의 사회경제적 신분을 남성 기업가들보다 더 효율적인 방법으로 향상시킨다. 또한 창업 지원 프로그램을 참가 후 여성 기업가들은 더 많은 권한을 갖게 되었다. 이들은 높은 자신감과 자부심을 갖게 되었고, 경제적으로 더욱 자립했으며, 가정에서도 전보다 많은 발언권을 갖게 되었고, 전보다 더 자기대행(self-ageny)을 하며, 객관적으로 보다 좋은 기회 그리고 더 뛰어난 기술 수준과 생활 수준을 갖게 되었다. 뿐만 아니라 여성 기업가들은 자신들의 가족들과 다른 여성 기업가들, 그리고 기업가정신 생태계에 보다 큰 영향력을 가지게 되었다.;Since “Egypt has been reforming extremely fast and well so that there is a need to keep that momentum going”, as said by the World Bank’s vice president in the MENA region (Egypt Today 2019), the engagement of women in the development wheel is required to ensure sustainability and the efficient use of Egypt’s full capacity. Moreover, encouraging and supporting women entrepreneurship is the device of women’s economic empowerment (Balasundaram, Absar, and Akhter 2010) that boosts economic growth as well as it leads to improved development outcomes by increasing diversification and income equality in the workforce and consequently results in more economic flexibility and resilience (IMF 2018). However, Egypt could be dropping out an enormous portion of women’s contribution with the non-concentration on the women’s specific needs in the incubation system/ that is a key player in the entrepreneurship ecosystem and is the heart of the women entrepreneurship and empowerment that can facilitate and eliminate female entrepreneurs’ challenges. As potential female entrepreneurs encounter a number of challenges and barriers during the course of their entrepreneurship lifecycle. It is harder for them to access finance and end up being bootstrappers, which can constrain their business growth, deprive the fund for adequate marketing, and even weaken the bootstrapped product quality (Kenton 2019). Female’s lack of mobility, lack of networking abilities, and lack of business skills deprive them from accessing the entrepreneurial opportunities. Additionally, female entrepreneurs need more preparation and business skills development in order to be able to compete on the same footing as male entrepreneurs. The findings of this study implicates that business incubators have more significant impact and are more efficient on women entrepreneurship; as it narrows the gender gap of skills among female and male entrepreneurs; and enhances the female entrepreneurs socioeconomic status in more efficient way than for male entrepreneurs. Women entrepreneurs after joining the incubation program, they become more empowered. They gain more self-confidence and higher self-esteem, more financial independence, more voice in the household, more self-agency, get subjected to greater opportunities, and get better skills and living standards. As well as they have greater spillover over their families, other female entrepreneurs, and the entrepreneurship ecosystem.
