오디오북을 활용한 현대소설 교육 방안 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 중국인 한국어 고급 학습자를 대상으로, 오디오북을 활용한 현대 소설 교육 방안을 모색하는 데 연구 목적을 두었다. 이 연구는 고급 단계인 외국인 한국어 학습자들의 수가 점차 증가하면서 다양한 학습 요구를 만족시킬 뿐만 아니라 현대사회에서 새롭게 등장한 매체인 오디오북을 활용하여 보다 새롭고 효과적인 현대소설 교수-학습 방안을 모색했다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다. 현대소설 교육에 있어 오디오북을 활용하는 것은, 외국인 한국어 학습자 들이 낯설고 어렵다고 느꼈던 한국 문학작품을 보다 흥미롭게 학습 할 수 있도록 할뿐만 아니라, 작품의 내용 및 의미를 이해하고 나아가 인물의 감정 및 가치관 등을 파악하는 데에도 도움을 줄 수 있다. 더불어 외국인 학습자들의 듣기, 읽기, 말하기, 쓰기 네 가지 기능을 통합적으로 훈련할 수 있는 기회를 제공해준다는 점에서 의의를 갖는다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 청각매체인 오디오북이 현대소설 교육에서 활용할 가능성 및 교육적 가치를 마련하기 위해 한국어교육에서의 선행 연구 및 이론을 검토하였다. 나아가 실제 외국인 학습자들을 대상으로 설문 조사를 진행하여, 그 구체적인 수요와 내용을 충분히 파악하였다. 이를 토대로 두 작품을 선정 하여 중국인 한국어 고급 학습자를 대상으로 한 오디오북을 활용한 현대소설 교육 방안을 구체적으로 제시하였다. I장에서는 본 연구의 연구 목적 및 연구의 필요성을 기술하였고 연구의 대상 및 이어지는 논문 진행 절차를 제시하였다. 또한 선행 연구 검토 부분에서 한국어 교육에서 현대소설 교육에 관한 연구, 매체를 활용한 현대소설 교육에 관한 연구, 그리고 오디오북에 관한 연구를 살펴보았다. II장에서는 오디오북을 활용한 현대소설 교육을 위한 이론적 전제를 고찰하 였다. 현행 한국어 교육에서 오디오북 활용에 관한 연구는 거의 없으며 문학 교육 특히 현대소설 교육에 있어 오디오북을 활용에 관한 연구는 전무한 실정 이다. 그러므로 우선 한국어 교육에서 소설 교육의 목표 및 의의를 살펴보았고, 한국어 교육에서 듣기의 중요성을 고찰하였다. 이어서 한국어 교육에서뿐만 아니라 문학교육에서 듣기 활용의 의의 및 듣기 활용 시 고려해야 할 요인을 살펴보았다. 나아가 청각매체인 오디오북이 가지고 있는 구술성에 관한 특징을 고찰하고 오디오북이 세계적으로 어떻게 발전해왔는지를 살펴보았다. 이 를 바탕으로 외국어교육 특히 영어교육에서 오디오북에 관한 이론 및 연구를 살핌으로써, 소설교육에서 오디오북을 활용할 때 지닐 수 있는 한국어교육적 의의에 대해서 확인하였다. III장에서는 오디오북을 활용한 현대소설 교육을 위한 세 가지 조사를 진행 하였다. 첫째는 중국인 한국어 고급 학습자의 학습 현황 및 학습 요구에 관한 설문 조사이다. 이를 통하여 고급 단계인 중국인 학습자들이 현대소설의 학습 현황을 확인할 뿐만 아니라 오디오북을 활용한 현대소설 교육의 학습 요구와 그 내용을 확인하였다. 둘째는 한국 국내 최대 오디오북 사이트 ‘오디언’과 ‘오디오클립’에서 확인할 수 있는 오디오북 목록에 관해 조사를 진행하였다. 이 조사를 통해, 현대소설 수업에 적용할 수 있는 오디오북 수량 및 작품 상황을 확인할 수 있었다. 셋째는 한국과 중국에서 활용하고 있는 고급 한국어 교재 및 한국 문학 교재 내 현대 단편소설 수록 현황에 관한 조사이다. 이를 통하여 기존 중국 및 한국의 한국어 교육에서 어떠한 현대 단편소설을 가르치고 있는지를 확인할 수 있었다. 이 세 가지 조사의 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구 에서는 오디오북을 활용한 현대소설 교육의 작품 선정 기준을 현대소설 작품 선정 기준과 오디오북 작품 선정 기준 두 가지 측면으로 설정하였다. 작품 선정 목록에 대한 분석 결과에 따라 최종적으로 김유정의 「동백꽃」과 김영하의 「엘리베이터에 낀 그 남자는 어떻게 되었나」 두 작품을 선정하였다. 김유정 작가의 「동백꽃」은 1930년대의 작품이며 교재에 수록 빈도가 비교적으로 많을 뿐만 아니라 오디오북으로 제작된 빈도도 다른 작품에 비하여 비교적으로 많다. 따라서 이 작품은 한국인뿐만 아니라 외국인 학습자에게 널리 알려진 작품이자 한국 문학사에서 중요한 위치를 차지한 작품으로 판단되었고, 오디오북의 시간 길이도 비교적으로 짧아 수업에서도 활용하기 적절한 작품으로 선정하였다. 또한 김영하 작가의 「엘리베이터에 낀 그 남자는 어떻게 되었나」는 오디오북 길이가 58분으로 다소 길지만, 다른 작품들에 비해 비교적 다양한 특수 효과음을 활용함으로써 작품 세계를 생동감 있게 재현했다는 점에서 오디오북의 특성을 충분히 드러낸다고 보아 선정하였다. IV장에서는 선정된 두 소설 작품을 중심으로 오디오북을 활용한 현대소설 교수-학습 방안을 구안하고자 하였다. 구체적인 교육 방안을 제시하기 전에 오디오북을 활용한 현대소설 교육의 목표 및 방향에 대하여 논의하였다. 특히 실제 수업에서 오디오북과 현대소설 텍스트를 양방향으로 고려할 수 있는 작품의 감상 방법을 마련하기 위해 감상 순서, 감상 분량 및 문학 텍스트를 제시하는 방법까지 고려하였으며, 이러한 논의를 토대로 구체적인 수업 모형을 제시하였다. 이때 본 연구에서 제안한 수업 모형은 ‘계획 단계’- ‘지도 및 학 습 단계’ - ‘확장 활동 단계’ - ‘마무리 단계’로, 이를 앞서 선정한 두 작품에 적용하여 교육 방안을 마련하였다. 본 연구는 기존 매체를 활용한 현대소설 교육의 한계점을 극복하여 적극적으로 새로운 매체를 모색하여 오디오북을 활용한 현대소설 교육 방안을 개발 하는 점에서 의의를 지닌다. 그러나 본 연구에서 제시한 교육 방안을 실제 수업에 적용하지 못하여 그 효과를 도출하지 못하는 점에서 아쉬움이 있다고 할 수 있고 오디오북과 현대소설 작품의 감상 방법에 대한 효율성도 검증하지 못 하는 점에서 한계가 있다고 할 수 있다. 앞으로 현대소설을 비롯한 한국 문학 교육에 있어 오디오북 활용에 관하여 보다 다양하고 심도 있는 논의가 이루어지길 기대한다.;The purpose of this study was to explore ways to educate contemporary novels using audio books for Chinese Korean advanced learners. This study is meaningful in that the number of foreign Korean learners which is in the advanced stage gradually increased, not only satisfies various learning needs, but also sought new and more effective teaching and learning methods for modern novels by utilizing the newly emerging medium of audio books in modern society. Using audio books in modern novel education can not only help foreign Korean learners learn more Korean literary works that they felt unfamiliar and difficult interested, but also help them understand the content and meaning of the works, and further identify the emotions and values of the characters. In addition, it is meaningful in that it provides opportunities for the comprehensively training of foreign learners’ listening, reading, speaking and writing functions. Therefore, this study reviewed previous studies and theories in Korean language education to prepare the possibility and educational value of audio books which are audiovisual media in modern novels education. Furthermore, a survey of actual foreign learners was conducted to fully understand their specific needs and contents. Based on this, two novels were selected and the detailed education plans for modern novels using audio books for advanced Chinese Korean learners were presented. In chapter Ⅰ, I described the purpose and the necessity of this study, and presented the subject of the study and the following procedure. Also, in the review of previous studies, I examined the studies of modern novel education in Korean language education, the studies of modern novel education using media, and the studies of audio books in foreign language education. In chapter Ⅱ, the theoretical premise for modern novel education using audio books is considered. There are few studies on the use of audio books in the current Korean language education, and there are no studies on the use of audio books in literature education, especially modern novel education. Therefore, first of all, we examined the purpose and significance of novel education in Korean language education and considered the importance of listening in Korean language education. Next, we examined the significance of listening and the factors that should be considered in listening use in literature education as well as in Korean language education. In addition, this study examined the characteristics of the orality of audio books and how the audio books have developed in the world. Based on this, the theory and research on audio books in foreign language education, especially in English education were examined to confirm the significance of Korean language education that can be carried when using audio books in novel education. In chapter Ⅲ, three surveys were conducted for modern novel education using audio books. The first is a survey on the learning status and learning needs of Chinese advanced Korean learners. Through this, not only checked the learning status of modern novels, but also confirmed the learning needs and contents of modern novel education using audio books of the Chinese learners who are at the advanced stage. The second was to investigate the list of audio books that can be found in Korea’s largest audio books sites, ‘Audien’ and ‘Audioclip’. Through this survey, it was able to confirm the quantity of audio books and the work conditions applicable to modern novel classes. The third is a survey on the current status of advanced Korean textbooks and modern short stories in Korean literature textbooks used in Korea and China. Through this, it was possible to find out what Korean modern short stories are taught in Korea language education in Korea and China. Based on the result of these three surveys, this study set the criteria for selection of works for modern novel education using audio books in two aspects: the selection criteria for modern novels and criteria for selecting audio books. According to the analysis of the selection list, two novels were finally selected: Kim Yoo-jeong’s <Camellia Flower> and Kim Young-ha’s <What happened to the man in the elevator>. Kim Yoo-jeong’s <Camellia Flower> is a novel of 1930s, and it is not only more frequent in textbooks but also more frequently produced in audio books than other novels. Therefore, it was judged as a novel that is widely known not only to Koreans but also to foreign learners and occupied an important position in the history of Korean literature. And the length of the audio books was also relatively short, so it was selected as a work that is suitable for use in class. In addition, Kim Young-ha’s <What happened to the man in the elevator> it is an audio books with a length of 58 minutes, but compared to other works, this audio book is fully functional in that it is a lively reproduction of the world of the work by using a relatively diverse sound of special effects. So it was chosen because it reveals the characteristics of audio books enough. In chapter Ⅳ, the two selected novels were designed to develop a method for teaching and learning of modern novels using audio books. Before presenting specific education plan, the goals and directions of modern novel education using audio books were discussed. In particular, in order to prepare an appreciation method of works that can consider both audio books and modern novel texts in the actual class, we also considered the appreciation order, the amount of appreciation and the method of how to present the literature texts. Based on these discussions, a specific class model was be presented. The teaching model proposed in this study is ‘Planning stage’ - ‘Teaching and learning stage’ - ‘Extended activity stage’ - ‘Finishing stage’. This study is meaningful in that it can overcome the limitations of modern novel education using existing media and actively seeking new media to develop modern novel education plans using audio books. However, there are limitations in the fact that the educational method presented in this study did not be applied to actual classes and thus the effects cannot be derived, and the effectiveness of the audio books and modern novel appreciation methods cannot be verified. It is hoped that there will be more diverse and in-depth discussions on the use of audio books in the education of Korean literature, including modern novels.
