채색 도구의 표기법 및 기본색 기준에 따른 표준화 연구

Abstract

Our vision depends on color more than 60%, and at the same time, color is gradually positioning itself as an element of communication, through which more information is delivered and accepted visually. As mentioned above, members of modern society are facing a variety of colors at every moment, and the linguistic way of referring to such colors is becoming diversified. Colors are not a language used only by experts anymore but are becoming an ‘everyday language’ used by everyone around you. Accordingly, this study aimed to investigate whether coloring tools currently on the market deliver accurate information regarding colors, through which information of colors can be obtained in the most universal and easiest way. For this purpose, 5 types of coloring tools including colored pencils, signature pens, crayons, and oil pastels were analyzed by 19 manufacturers. Then, research on standardization based on primary colors was conducted on these selected coloring tools through an analysis of color name notation proposed by Korean industrial standards and colorimetry. As a result, there were coloring tools which did not include 12 chromatic colors and it was found that information on color name notation was not accurately conveyed although the name of coloring tool conformed to color name notation suggested by Korean industrial standards. In addition, it was found that commonly-used color names and systematic color names are used in a mixed-up manner for the same coloring tools. Therefore, this study suggests that Korean industrial standards on the composition of coloring tools and color name notation must be reviewed.;색채는 우리 시각이 60% 이상 의존하는 요소임과 동시에 시각적으로 더 많은 정보를 전달하고 받아들이는 의사소통의 요소 중 한 가지로 점차 자리잡아가고 있다. 이처럼 현대 사회의 구성원들은 매순간 다양한 색채와 마주하고, 그를 지칭하는 언어적 방식이 다양해지고 있으며, 색채는 더이상 전문가들만 사용하는 언어가 아닌 누구나 사용하는 주변의 ‘생활 언어’가 되었다. 이에 본 연구에서는 색채에 대한 정보를 가장 보편적이고 쉽게 접할 수 있는 채색 도구를 통하여 현재 시판 중인 채색 도구들이 색채에 대한 정보를 정확히 전달하고 있는지에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 색연필, 사인펜, 크레용, 크레파스, 물감 총 5종의 채색 도구에서 제조사별로 19가지에 대해 분석하였다. 선정된 채색 도구들에 대해 한국 산업 표준에서 제시하고 있는 색이름 표기법에 대한 분석 및 측색을 통해 기본색 기준에 따른 표준화 연구를 진행한 결과 채색 도구에서 기본색 중 유채색 12가지를 포함하지 않은 채색 도구들이 있었으며, 한국 산업 표준에서 제시하고 있는 각 채색 도구에 대한 색이름 표기법에는 부합하나 정확한 색이름에 대한 정보 전달이 이루어지지 않고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 동일한 채색 도구 내에서 색이름을 표기할 때 관용색명과 계통색명을 혼용하고 있음을 발견하였다. 이에 본 연구에서는 채색 도구 구성 및 색 이름 표기법에 대한 한국 산업 표준의 검토를 시사하고 있다.
