성인의 칫솔 마모도에 따른 칫솔의 교체시기에 대한 연구

Abstract

칫솔의 교체주기는 통상적으로 3개월로 알려져 있으나, 이에 대한 근거는 부족하며 실제 사용기간에 따른 칫솔의 마모도에 관한 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구의 목적은 20~30대 성인의 칫솔 마모도를 측정하여 통상적인 3개월의 칫솔 교체시기가 적절한지 평가하고 칫솔의 효율적인 교체시기에 대해 연구하는 데 있다. 전신질환이 없으며 치주상태가 건강하고 치열이 고른 성인 남자와 여자를 대상으로 총 48명에게 칫솔을 나눠주었다. 하루 3번 회전법으로 칫솔질을 하도록 교육을 한 뒤 4주, 8주, 12주 단위로 수거하였다. 수거한 칫솔의 마모도를 Digital vernier calipers 를 이용하여 측정하였다. 칫솔 마모도는 Toothbrush wear index에 의해 칫솔모의 5부분의 길이인 FLL (Free Long Length), BLL (Base Long Length) , FFL (Front Free Length), BFL (Base Free Length), BRL (Bristles’ Length)를 측정 후 평가하였다. 성별과 시간에 따른 칫솔 마모도의 변화에서 사용기간에 따른 칫솔 마모도의 변화는 유의한 차이가 있었다(p< 0.005). 성별에 따른 칫솔 마모도의 변화는 유의한 차이가 없었다. 전체 실험군의 4주와 8주, 12주의 칫솔 마모도의 유의한 차이가 있었다(p < 0.005). 사후 검정을 이용하여 4주와 12주에서 차이가 있음을 확인하였다 남성의 4주와 8주, 12주의 칫솔 마모도의 유의한 차이가 없었다. 여성의 4주와 8주, 12주의 칫솔 마모도의 유의한 차이가 있었다(p < 0.05). 사후 검정을 이용하여 4주와 12주에서 차이가 있음을 확인하였다. 본 연구에서 3개월의 칫솔의 사용기간 동안 칫솔의 마모도가 증가하였고, 성별에 따른 마모도의 변화는 유의한 차이가 없었다. 칫솔의 마모도는 개개인마다 잇솔질 습관과 여러 환경적 요인에 의해 달라질 수 있으며 이에 따라 개개인에 맞는 칫솔 교환주기를 결정하는 것이 추천된다. 연구를 통해 효과적인 칫솔 교환주기가 확립되는데 도움이 되고자 하였다.;Toothbrush replacement cycle is commonly known as 3 months, however the evidence for this is insufficient and studies on the toothbrush wear according to the actual use period is insufficient. The purpose of this study was to measure the toothbrush wear of adults in their 20s and 30s and to evaluate whether the 3 months of toothbrush replacement cycle is proper and to study the effective cycle of toothbrush replacement. Toothbrushes were given to a total of 48 male and female adults with no generalized disease and healthy periodontal disease. They were trained to brush their teeth three times a day using rotation method and the toothbrushes were collected fourth, eighth, and twelfth weeks. The wear degree of the collected toothbrushes was measured using Digital Vernier Calipers. Toothbrush wear was measured by Toothbrush wear index, which is the length of five parts of the bristles, FLL (Free Long Length), BLL (Base Long Length), FFL (Front Free Length), BFL (Base Free Length), and BRL (Bristles' Length) and evaluated. There was a significant difference in the change of toothbrush wear according to the age and duration of toothbrush wear according to gender and time (p <0.005). There was no significant difference in toothbrush wear according to gender. There were significant differences in toothbrush wear at 4, 8, and 12 weeks of all experimental group (p <0.005). Post hoc test was used to confirm the difference between 4 and 12 weeks. There was no significant difference in toothbrush wear at 4, 8 and 12 weeks in male. There was a significant difference in toothbrush wear of female at 4, 8, and 12 weeks (p <0.05). Post hoc test was implemented to confirm the difference between 4 and 12 weeks. In this study, the toothbrush wear index increased during the 3 months of toothbrush use, and there was no significant difference in wear change according to gender. Toothbrush wear may vary depending on the individual's brushing habits and other environmental factors, and it is recommended that clinicians determine the toothbrush replacement cycle for individual variables. The study aimed to help establish an effective toothbrush replacement cycle.
