Abstract
In this thesis, imaging methods for detection and localization of human targets using multiple IR-UWB radar sensors are proposed. For localization of moving target, an image reconstruction based tracking method is proposed. And for counting and localization of stationary human targets, respiration characteristic comparison based imaging method is proposed. Image reconstruction based moving target localization method first reconstructs an image of changes of reflected ultra-wideband signals in the 2D domain and then detects moving objects using the reconstructed 2D image. The proposed method is based on the 2D modeling of moving objects and incorporates a priori information about the moving object images. Respiration imaging method identifies the number of human targets, estimates the 1D location of each target based on respiration signals and generates 2D images of each target. We performed experiments using commercial IR-UWB radar sensors to verify the performance of the proposed methods. The proposed methods showed improved performance compared with existing methods in the experiments.
