Abstract
;Appreciation of art is an important aesthetic activity that allows us to feel the beauty of the work, to understand the value of culture and to reach inner creation. In this way, art appreciation education presents learners with the diversity of cultures contained in their works for understanding and aesthetic enjoyment, and thereby develops cultural respect to form the right attitude for today's multicultural society. Accumulating these learning experiences allows us to establish a receptive attitude toward other cultures in the age of globalization. Accordingly, there is a need for art appreciation classes that reflect diverse cultures at school sites. Conventional art appreciation mainly uses the way teachers convey knowledge of the works, and the art appreciation education of the way that learners search and express information is rare. Therefore, the study of appreciation class that actively uses various media should be attempted in order to escape from this method and learner to experience and create appreciation. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of developing multicultural appreciation teaching and learning program using virtual reality and conducting classes to influence the multicultural acceptance of high school third grade learners. Based on theoretical considerations on appreciation of art, this study examined multicultural acceptance and multicultural perspective in art education, and studied the relationship between the 2015 revised art curriculum and the educational characteristics of virtual reality. After analyzing the 2015 revised art curriculum and appreciation areas, we selected the appropriate class unit, and designed a teaching-learning plan based on the theme of 'appreciating art using virtual reality', and studied the third graders of S high school in Michu Hall, Incheon, Korea. A total of six classes were conducted. In order to verify the effectiveness of this teaching and learning program, multicultural acceptance test tools were selected and practical results and other evaluation tools were developed. For the test tool of the study, the multicultural acceptance scale test for youth (KMCI-A) developed by Min Mu Sook et al. (2012) was used to verify whether there was a significant difference in multicultural acceptance. This study conducted a pre test and a total of 6 classes for a single group. After the post test, SPSS Ver. 21.0 Using a statistical package program, a correspondence sample t-test was conducted and statistically analyzed to confirm the effect of art appreciation class using virtual reality on learners' multicultural acceptance. In addition, through the qualitative analysis of practical results, the results were derived with specific details. The main results based on the data analysis of this study are as follows. First, the art appreciation class using virtual reality was found to be effective in improving multicultural acceptance of high school third grade students. When comparing the post test and pretest, the post test increased by 1.15 points, which showed statistically significant difference. In addition, there were also significant differences in the dimension of diversity, relationship, and universality, which are the sub-regions of multicultural acceptance, and showed the highest growth rate, especially in the sub-region of diversity. Second, as a result of qualitative analysis of practical results, through the art appreciation class using virtual reality, it explores various cultural background knowledge contained in art works to internalize and form an attitude that accepts culture receptively. It was found to be effective, and the educational significance in the actual educational field was confirmed.
