Abstract
This thesis is purposed to understand the music of Beethoven widely by analysing an No.3 in A Major, Op.69 which is one of the five Musics of Cello Sonata composed by Beethoven. L. v. Beethoven is a composer who represents the classical era and an important composer who plays a bridge between the classical and romantic era. Therefore, his music shows the development of classical and romantic music. It is no exaggeration to say that Beethoven opened the era of romantic music, especially by trying to free expression of emotions and variety of forms away from traditional classical styles. He composed five songs of Cello Sonata over 20 years, of which Cello Sonata No.3 Op.69 was composed between 1807 and 1808, the middle stage of Beethoven's music. The mid-term is the time when Beethoven began to build his own musical style, breaking away from the classical framework and the influence of composers of the previous era. If the composers before Beethoven had composed for royalty or nobility in a fixed format, Beethoven inherited the musical style of classical-era, but still displayed his own originality within it, In addition, he created free expressions and new writing techniques. Also, the song became richer as the role of cello grew bigger and its musical range and technique expanded to the equal of piano than the early composition of Cello Sonata No.1 & No.2. This Sonata consists of in the form of Sonata in the first and third movement, and in the form of Scherzo in the second movement. It was composed in the form of traditional three acts, but like other ordinary sonatas, the second movement did not consist of slow movement, but was composed as Scherzo, so it proceeded with Allegro Molto's tempo. And the short insertion of the slow-tempo Adagio prelude in front of the third movement is a notable feature in the song. Cello Sonata No.3, Op.69 is a classic and romantic musical technique that not only shows an improvement over previous Sonata but also highlights cello's virtuosity and rich expression, demonstrating its potential as a solo instrument.
