Abstract
The purpose of this textbook is to provide ESL or EFL students with an opportunity to develop their English language skills through extensive reading (ER) and Communicative Language Teaching (CLT). This textbook is designed for high school students to transition from modified English language texts to authentic texts which will be primarily facilitated by ER. Each chapter of the book provides helpful reading strategies and various activities that learners can use in the classroom to improve their reading and speaking skills through systematic activities involving vocabulary, listening, speaking and writing exercises. Learning materials and activities in the textbook are not only designed to engage students in meaningful ways through various communicative activities but students will develop their critical thinking skills as well.
