부유하는 현대사회의 군상과 풍경에 관한 표현연구

Abstract

현대인 대다수가 빠르게 변화하는 도시 환경 속에 거주하고 있고 거의 모두가 스마트폰을 소유한 삶을 살고 있다. 이는 과거와는 비교할 수 없을 정도로 밀집된 군중 풍경을 만들었고, 빠르고 과다한 소통이 가능하게 했다. 과거보다 높은 벽으로 가로막힌 일상의 풍경은 현대인의 개인주의적 태도를 심화시켰고, 가상공간 속 과다한 소통은 현대인에게 수많은 기준과 광고를 제시하며 그들을 더욱 빠르고 촘촘하게 옭아맸다. 현대인이 살아가는 물리적 공간과 그들에게 제공되는 가상공간속에서, 현대인은 가상이 현실을 전도한 삶을 살게 되며 실제 삶속에서 이뤄지는 이웃과의 교류가 단절된 상황에 놓일 수 있다. 우리는 과거보다 훨씬 더 가깝게 모여 살고 있지만, 더욱 단절되어 살아간다. 또한 기술의 발전으로 끊임없이 타인과 접족하며 살아갈 수 있게 되었지만, 실재하는 타인의 부재 속에서 진정한 교류는 이뤄지지 않는다. 본 연구자는 도시화되어가는 풍경 속 빠르게 변화하는 불안정한 공간과, 가상현실 속 이뤄지는 허상의 관계가 만연해진 현 사회의 변화에 주목한다. 어울리지 않는 것들을 병치하는 ‘낯설게 하기 방식’을 이용하여 비현실적인 이미지를 이용한 의도적인 혼돈 상황을 관객에게 제시함으로써, 작품 속 환상의 세계와 현실 세계 사이에서 유발되는 인간의 불편한 감정을 관찰하고자 하며, 모순적인 상황의 제시나 조악하게 표현된 오브제를 이용하여 현대 풍경과 인간 군상에 대한 특징을 작품에 표현하고자 한다. 급격히 이뤄지는 도시화로 인해 급변하는 주변 풍경과 가상공간 속 과잉소통은 현대인을 부유하게 만드는데, 연구자는 작품을 통해 부유하는 풍경과 군상의 모습을 제공하여 현대인이 현실을 살아가며 놓치고 있는 삶의 본질에 대해 탐구 하고자 한다. 모순적인 이미지들의 부조화와 조악한 오브제를 의도적으로 사용하여, 관객으로 하여금 부유하며 살아가는 현대인의 모습과 부유하는 주변 풍경을 바라보게 한다. 이때 사용되는 이미지는 목욕탕이나 공사장 풍경 등 우리 주변의 도시 풍경을 관찰하여 그 공간에서 드러나는 인간의 권위적 모습을 수집한 것이고 오브제는 인공물을 재활용하여 그럴싸하게 만든 것으로, 군상과 풍경의 부유성을 극대화 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서 다루고 있는 작품은 모순적인 오브제의 조합을 통해 관객들에게 낯설게 느껴지게 함으로써, 각 오브제가 가진 개별 의미와는 다른 새로운 의미가 생성될 수 있도록 표현되었다. 작품이 가진 모순성은 때로는 ‘공간’으로서 비현실적인 풍경으로 표현되기도 하였고, ‘행위’로써 그 행위가 가진 의미의 상실로 표현되기도 하였다. <목욕탕 풍경>작업에서는 배경인 목욕탕과 사막은 파노라마로 연결되어 관객들에게 비현실적 풍경을 보여준다. 그 풍경 속 불완전한 인체들이 부유하며 떠도는 모습은 우리가 사는 실제 삶의 풍경과 군중에 대한 은유적 표현을 나타낸다. 또한 <가시 시리즈>에서 수술 되는 선인장의 모습과 진열되고 채집되어 있는 선인장 가시의 모습은 수술의 행위가 가진 목적성을 상실시킨다. <주변 풍경 드로잉> 시리즈 속 익숙한 오브제들을 모순적으로 조합하고 조악하게 표현함으로써 새로운 의미를 갖는 오브제로 표현된다. 이렇듯 설치 작업과 영상 작업을 통해 현대사회를 부유하며 살아가는 인간 군상과 주변 풍경에 대해 표현했다. 이러한 과정을 통해 현대사회 속 수많은 가치 기준들의 견고한 권위성에 대해 의문을 제기하고자 했다. 연구자는 현대 사회 속 만연한 단절과 소외의 경험들을 위와 같은 장치로써 표현하여, 현대를 살아가는 인간의 부유함과 그들이 살아가는 풍경의 부유함을 드러내고자 한다. ; The majority of modern people live in a rapidly changing urban environment and almost everyone lives a life of owning a smartphone. This created a crowd scene that was incomparably dense with the past, enabling fast and excessive communication. The daily landscape, blocked by walls higher than in the past, has deepened modern people's individualistic attitudes, and excessive communication in virtual space has brought numerous standards and advertisements to modern people, squeezing them faster and tighter. In the physical space where modern people live and the virtual space provided to them, modern people can lead a life where virtual reality is conducted and their interaction with neighbors is cut off. We live far closer together than in the past, but we live more cut off. In addition, while technological advances have made it possible to continue to cater to others, real exchanges do not take place in the absence of real people. The researcher notes the rapidly changing unstable space in the urbanizing landscape and changes in the current society where imaginary relationships in virtual reality have become widespread. By presenting to the audience a deliberate chaos situation using unrealistic images, using the 'to make things stand out' that they don't fit together, we want to observe the discomfort caused by humans between the fantasy world in the work and the real world, and to express the characteristics of modern landscapes and the human military in the work by presenting contradictory situations or crudely represented objects. Rapidly changing surrounding landscapes and over-communication in virtual space due to rapid urbanization make modern people float, and researchers want to explore the essence of life that modern people miss while living in reality by providing floating landscapes and military images through their works. Intentionally using the incongruity and crude objectivity of contradictory images, the audience is asked to look at the rich, living modern faces and floating surroundings. The images used at this time are the collection of human authority from the space by observing the urban landscape around us, such as bathhouses and construction site landscapes, while the object was made plausible by recycling artificial objects, which can maximize the drift of the military and the landscape. The work covered in this study was expressed in such a way that a combination of contradictory objects can create a new meaning that is different from the individual meaning each object has. The contradictions of the work were sometimes expressed as unrealistic landscapes as 'space' and as 'action' as a loss of meaning. In the bathhouse scene, the setting baths and deserts are panoramic, showing the audience an unrealistic view. The floating of incomplete human beings in the landscape represents the actual landscape of life we live in and the metaphorical expression of the crowd. Also, the cactus being operated in the thorax series and the cactus spines being displayed and collected lose the purpose of the act of surgery. It is expressed as an object with new meaning by combining and crudely expressing familiar objects in the Ambient Scenery Drawing series. Through installation and video work, he described the human military and surrounding landscapes that live on and off in modern society. Through this process, we wanted to question the solid authority of numerous values in modern society. Researchers want to express the experiences of widespread disconnection and alienation in modern society as devices such as these, revealing the wealth of humans living in modern times and the drift of the landscape in which they live.
