안과 밖, 그 경계의 흔적

Abstract

본 연구는 인식과 행위가 맞닿는 경계에서 의미가 만들어지는 과정을 조형적으로 구현하여 연구자만의 특징적인 회화 구조를 정립한 과정을 담고 있다. ‘의미가 만들어지는 과정’을 내용적 토대로 ‘바탕과 자국’이라는 표현 방법의 연구와 실행을 통해 작업의 방향성을 확립하고자 한다. 연구자는 작업을 하면서 그림에 표현 행위보다 의미가 선행되는 것에 대해 고민하게 되면서 의미 그 자체에 대한 궁금증과 관심으로 의미를 심도 있게 탐구하게 되었다. 따라서 내용적 연구에서는 ‘의미’에 대한 일반적인 인식체계와 의미가 만들어지는 과정에 대해 살펴본다. 우선, ‘의미’를 언어적 관점에서 시작해서 의미를 다루는 철학적 이론으로 살펴본 후 그를 연구자의 경험과 인식을 연계하여 고찰해본다. 연구자에게 있어서 작업이란 작업이 지속적으로 진행됨에 따라 의미가 형성되어가는 과정이라 할 수 있으며, 이는 작업에 대한 새로운 방향성 확립의 계기가 되었다. 표현 방법적 연구는 ‘종이구조 만들기’와 ‘형상 드러내기’로 나누어 살펴본다. 연구자는 작업이 만들어지는 ‘과정’에 몰두하였다. 그리하여 작업에 가해지는 다양한 표현 행위들을 연구하고 그러한 행위들이 누적되어 작품이 만들어지는 조형 구조를 구축하게 되었다. 작품은 종이구조 바탕을 토대로 호분을 활용하여 질감과 형상을 드러내는 과정이 반복되어 제작된다. 첫 번째로 종이구조를 만드는 작업은 작업의 틀, 즉 토대를 구축하는 작업이다. 두 번째로는 그 바탕을 그대로 드러내기 위해, 호분을 이용하여 자국 내기를 통해 화면에 형상을 드러내고 질감을 만드는 것에 주목하게 한다. 그리하여 안과 밖의 경계, 즉 화면에 여러 지점을 설정하면서 화면을 다양하게 전개시키고자 한다. 내용적 배경과 표현 방법의 연구를 바탕으로 작품 분석에서는 ‘문’을 소재로 한 작품들을 중심으로 살펴본다. 본 논문을 통해 연구자는 작업을 하면서 고민하고 탐구하였던 의미에 대한 물음에 다각적으로 이해하고 정리해보았다. 이를 통해 연구자에게 있어 작업은 사유로 선행되는 것이 아니라, 인식과 작업 행위의 경계에서 화면 자체가 화면으로서의 의미를 형성하는 것을 인지하게 되었다. 이에 근거해 연구자만의 회화 구조를 정립하는 것에 의의를 가진다.;This study is a process of establishing this researcher's characteristic of painting structure, by embodying the process in which the meaning is created at the boundary between the recognition and the action. This researcher intends to establish the direction of this study through the research and execution of the expression methods of 'the Background and the Mark' on the basis of 'process of making meanings'. As the researcher was considering about the precedence of a meaning rather than an expressive act in the painting, this researcher deeply explored the meaning with curiosity and concern about a meaning itself. Therefore, this research will examine the linguistic perception system of 'Meaning' and the process of making the meaning. First, this study starts with a general theory on 'Meaning' from a linguistic point of view, and then takes a holistic view through the experiences and perceptions of this researcher as an artist, and the theories that support it. This researcher became aware of the process of meaning formation as the art work progressed continuously, and this gave rise to a new direction for the art work. Expression method research is divided into 'Making paper structure' and 'Exposing shape'. This researcher were immersed in the 'Process' in which the art work was created. Thus, this research regards various expressive behaviors applied to the work, and constructs the formative structure in which the art works are accumulated. The art works are made by repeating the process of revealing the texture and shape, by using the ho-bun based on the background of paper structure. First, the task of creating a paper structure is a work of formulating framework, that is, building a foundation. Second, to let the viewers to pay attention to making the texture, this researcher left marks using the ho-bun by revealing the background. Thus, this researcher aimed to diversify the screen by setting various points on the boundary between the inside and outside, that is, the screen. Based on the study on the background of content and the expression method, the art work analysis will focus on art works based on 'Door'. Through this paper, this researcher has understood and arranged variously on questions about the meanings that this researcher had considered and explored while doing the art works. Through this research, this researcher recognized that the art work itself is not preceded by the thoughts but the screen itself forms the meaning of the screen at the boundary between the perception and the activity. Based on this, it was meaningful to establish the painting structure of this researcher only.
