Introduction
Purpose: The purpose of this portfolio is to help Korean middle school students to develop the four language skills through reading graded readers.
Rationale: Students will not only improve the four language skills but they will discover the joy of reading through extensive reading and improve their reading strategies through intensive reading.
Target learners: First year middle school students, mixed gender.
Proficiency: Intermediate-low based on the ACTFL
Learning context: After-school program
Method
CLT, extensive and intensive reading approaches
Expected outcomes:
Students will not only increase their motivation to read but they will improve the four language skills through extensive and intensive reading.
Students will learn how to use reading strategies effectively.
Students will learn to work cooperatively through various types of interactive activities.
