Under the Sea

Abstract

*Introduction -Purpose and rationale: To teach EFL Korean kindergarten students meaningful communication through various activities. To make students enjoy learning English in a fun way by using their five senses. -Target learners: 5-6 years old EFL Korean kindergarten students attending an afterschool English class. -Proficiency: WIDA level 2 *Method -Theme-Based Instruction (TBI): Theme based instruction helps students learn language though diverse fields of content. The topic covered in this book is underwater sea creature. Students selected the topic, and most of the students were curious about underwater sea creatures. -Communicative Language Teaching (CLT): This book contains activities that helps students develop communicative skills. Activities such as role play, group projects, discussion and games like Simon says will help students practice speaking English by engaging in meaningful communication. *Expected Outcomes -Students will be able to develop their communicative competence. -Students will be able to enjoy learning English through fun and meaningful tasks. -Students will be able to develop their multiple intelligence though music, art, and craft activities.
