프로젝트 학습에 기초한 환경미술수업이 생태적 감수성에 미치는 영향

Abstract

오늘날의 지구 환경 위기에 인간과 자연의 조화로운 관계를 추구하는 생태적 감수성 함양의 필요성으로 환경교육이 강조된다. 정부 기관에서도 환경교육의 지원정책을 통해 학습자들의 변화되는 환경의식과 태도를 조사하는 것으로 환경교육의 의미와 방향성의 연구를 보고하고 있다. 무엇보다 교육현장에서는 2009 교육과정을 기준으로 제시되는 교육 활동의 흐름으로 생태학적 가치관 형성에 목적을 두는 창의적 체험활동으로의 환경동아리 활동을 강조한다. 교육현장에서 교실 안팎을 통해 이루어지는 환경교육은 통합적인 학습 활동의 특징을 가지는데, 그중에서도 미술을 통한 환경교육은 협동심, 조화 등의 인성 함양과 함께 환경에 대한 자신의 감정을 미술의 조형성, 색감, 디자인 등으로 표현하며 창의성을 함양한다. 그뿐만 아니라 표현을 통해 타인과 공감을 이루며 동의를 얻는 것으로 심미성을 함양할 수 있다(한국교육과정평가원, 2011). 이를 고찰하기 위해 환경교육과 미술교육의 통합성을 제시한 선행 연구를 시작으로 환경미술에 대한 개념과 환경미술의 교육적 패러다임 그리고 환경미술교육의 접근법을 제안하는 논문들과 단행본들을 살펴보았다. 선행 연구들을 통한 이론을 바탕으로 본 연구에서는 연구목적으로 프로젝트 학습에 기초한 환경미술수업이 생태적 감수성에 미치는 영향에 대해 환경동아리 활동을 중심으로 확인한다. 연구대상은 서울시 구로구 소재의 G고등학교 환경동아리로서 단일집단 10명을 구성하여 총 8차시의 수업을 시행하였다. 이들이 길고양이를 공통의 관심사로 활동하는 특징을 참고하여 학습주제를 환경미술을 통한 길고양이 인식개선 활동으로 제안하며, 프로젝트 학습에서 강조하는 학생 중심의 활동성을 기대하였다. 또한, 수업을 통한 학습자의 생태적 감수성 변화와 영향력을 확인하고자 한다.;In these days that the global environment is threatened, the environmental education has been highlighted due to the needs for involving ecological sensitivity which pursues the harmonious relationship between human and nature. The changes of student’s awareness and attitude for environment has been investigated to examine the meaning and direction of environmental education by the government supports. Specifically, it is emphasized for students to engage in environmental clubs for creative activities which aim to build ecological moral character as the flow of the education of the 2009 educational curriculum criteria in the educational field. The environmental education has the characteristics of learning activities. Especially, the environmental education by the art education cultivates not only personality such as cooperation with others but also creativity by expression of their emotion regarding the environment using formativeness, color, and design. The aesthetic is also cultivated by their expression which makes others empathize (Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation, 2011). Several previous studies were reviewed for this study, which investigated the concept and educational paradigm of environmental arts, the integrity of environmental and art education, and the approach to environmental arts education. Based on the theories from previous studies, the purpose of the present study is to examine the effect of the environmental fine arts class on ecological sensitivity. Specifically, the effects of Project-Based Learning (PBL) in 1) students and 2) individuals who communicated with students were investigated. Subjects for this study were 10 members of the environment club at G-high school in Guro-Gu, Seoul, and they were participated in a total of 8 classes. The object of classes was set as improving perception of stray cats based on the common interests of club members. Thus, the self-directed activity of subjects that PBL emphasized was expected.
