;After the full implementation of free semester system was completed, on the subjects of 15 secondary science teachers in free semester science class experience, the purpose of this study was to investigate teachers' perception of free semester and its classes', 'the practice of free semester science classes', and 'difficulties that teachers experienced in free semester science classes and their solutions'. In this study, a qualitative research method using questionnaires including descriptive questions and personal interview was used, and selective items were analyzed for response frequency. Descriptive items and transcriptions of personal interviews were analyzed by repeated comparison analysis. The results and conclusions of this study are as follows. First, the teachers who participated in this study referred to the purport and purpose of the free semester introduction as 'searching for a dream and a spirit,' 'class with student participation and improvement of evaluation method,' and 'cultivating competence.' On the one hand, the teachers who selected "teaching method innovation" as the first and second rank among the free semester basic directions, felt it difficult to operate a student‐centered curriculum for free semesters in the existing lecture class, so they felt the need for teaching method innovation, and they explained that teaching method innovation is more important than career search activity because they think it is possible to conduct a career search in class. On the other hand, the teachers who selected ‘teaching method innovation' as the 3rd, 4th, and 5th rank explained that as the change of teaching method was made before free semester, they do not feel the teaching method is needed for innovation or that the career search activity itself is considered to be important as a free semester objective. In addition, most of the teachers who participated in this study understood the basic direction of free semester class as 'student‐centered class'. The teachers who are very positive or positive about the student‐centered class in the free semester explained that students' understanding of the class and the improvement of the participation, and the positive change of the students through the student‐centered class and the satisfaction of the teachers are important. On the other hand, the teachers who perceived the student‐centered class as normal or negative explained that when they run a student‐centered class, the concept of the class is lacking compared to the teacher‐centered class, and the number of students per class is large. Second, most of the teachers who participated in this study reconstructed the subject contents in order to reduce the burden of the test during the free semester, ensure the autonomy of the teaching and evaluation of the teacher, and carry out the student participation and activity‐oriented class. In addition, some of research participating teachers were participating in the curriculum council and training to implement the free semester science studies class and trying convergence‐alignment class. The teachers who engaged in student participation and activity‐based classes explained that students' interests and participation are improved, competencies are expanded, and the burden of test and progress has been reduced, so that student participation and activity‐based classes have been implemented. On the other hand, teachers who did not reconstruct the contents did not perform due to lack of experience and expertise and concerns about the degradation of the students due to reconstruction. In addition, teachers who do not perform student participation and activity‐based class explained that they lack experience and expertise, and that it takes a lot of time to prepare for student participation and activity‐oriented class, so that they said that they did not implement it because of the burden of class progress. The teachers who did not implement the convergence‐alignment class also explained that the lack of experience and expertise and the time required for consultation between the convergence‐alignment subjects were time consuming. Meanwhile, among the participating teachers, those teachers who did not have consultation for the free semester class at the curriculum council said they did not discuss it because they are in charge of the first grade or it might be a burden for other grade teachers. The teachers who did not participate in the training related to the free semester teaching method explained that they did not participate in the training because of the lack of time to participate in the training and the administrative work related to the training. Third, the teachers participating in the study found it difficult to consider the progress of the course in the free semester science studies class for student participation and activity‐oriented class, and convergence‐alignment class considering student interests and concerns, taking into account students' abilities and levels of understanding, selecting key concepts, and considering individual differences among students. In addition, the teachers participating in the study had difficulty in consultations in the curriculum council for the free semester science studies class due to the agreement with colleagues due to teaching methods and differences in majors and the lack of understanding and passive attitude of fellow teachers about the free semester. On the other hand, some of the teachers who participated in the free semester teaching method training said that the training did not help with class performance because there is no guidance on specific teaching directions in the training and there is not enough training to match the characteristics of science subjects. The teachers who participated in this study prepared a class scenario to run the class, and provided feedbacks for each group to take part in student activities and activity based class in consideration of individual differences to reflect the feedback of other teachers to consider the interests and concerns of the students, and address the difficulties of considering student ability and level of understanding. In addition, the teachers participating in this study selected the convergence‐alignment class topic before starting the free semester to adjust the class progress between the subjects, and proposed a solution based on the teacher's experience in the school field such as class preparation by sharing the contents with each teacher in order to solve the difficulties of consensus due to differences in class method and majors between fellow teachers at the curriculum council. The researchers who participated in this study also found that even after the free semester was fully implemented as in the case of operating a research school, called for institutional support for class, such as data dissemination and curriculum content reduction, and noted the need for school administrators and fellow teachers' attention.-
