Toward a Transformative Economy

Abstract

This study analyzes the relationship between Official Development Assistance (ODA) and openness to trade on economic growth of 43 Sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries from 2000 to 2016 using panel data series, Fixed and Random Effects models while accounting for regional as well as income level differences. The hypothesis that ODA and openness to trade promote growth in SSA countries was explored. In overall, the empirical results showed that ODA and openness to trade are determinants of economic growth in SSA countries. ;본 연구는 2000년에서 2016년 동안 사하라 이남 43개국(SSA)에서 공적개발원조(Official Development Assistance, ODA)와 무역개방성이 경제성장에 미치는 영향을 패널데이터 시리즈를 이용해 분석하고자 한다. 랜덤효과와 고정효과 모형을 통해 지역적 특성 뿐 아니라 수입 격차까지 분석하며 ODA와 무역개방성이 사하라 이남 국가의 경제성장을 촉진한다는 사실을 증명하고자 한다. 전체적으로, 실증적 결과들을 통해 ODA와 무역개방성이 사하라 이남(SSA) 국가들의 경제 성장을 결정하는 요소들이라는 것이 증명되었다.
