변신 소녀 애니메이션에서 나타난 변신 연출 연구

Abstract

변신 소녀 애니메이션은 여성 캐릭터가 마법의 힘으로 변신하여, 기존의 모습에서 벗어나 이야기를 이끌어 나간다는 특성으로 인하여 시청자들에게 꾸준한 사랑을 받아왔다. 반세기 동안 변신 소녀 애니메이션은 그 인기를 유지하기 위해 변신 소녀들을 더욱 창의적이고 아름답게 표현하는 데 꾸준한 노력을 기울여오고 있다. 그중에 변신 모티프를 가장 강력하게 표현하고 있는 장면은 여성 주인공의 변신 장면이라고 볼 수 있다. 즉, 마법을 통해 변신 소녀가 되는 장면은 변신을 통해 시청자들의 열망과 욕구를 가장 잘 담아내고 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 변신 소녀 애니메이션의 변신 장면에 초점을 맞춰, 변신 시 어떤 연출적 특성이 있는지 연구하고자 하였다. 이에 본 연구에서는 애니메이션에서의 변신 연출에 있어서 변신 소녀 애니메이션이 시대적, 국가적으로 어떻게 발전해 왔는지, 그리고 앞으로의 방향은 어떻게 흘러갈 것인지에 대하여 문헌과 사례를 통해 분석하고 제안하는 것이다. 또한, 선행연구를 통해 변신과 변신 소녀 애니메이션의 정의를 알아보고, 60개의 사례를 통해 변신 소녀 애니메이션의 연출요소들을 집중적으로 분석하는 것이다. 먼저, 선행연구를 통해 애니메이션에서 나타나는 변신 연출에 대해 알아보고 변신 체계와 유형에 대해 살펴보았다. 또한, 일반적으로 알려진 변신 소녀 애니메이션의 특성을 확인하였으며, 추출된 변신 소녀 애니메이션 연출요소는 전문가의 검증을 받았다. 사례분석을 위해 검증받은 요소들은 변신 장면의 처음, 중간, 끝의 3막 구조 안에서 어떠한 연출요소들이 나타나는지 알아보기 위해 연출 분석 기준표를 작성한 후 그 기준표에 의하여 변신 소녀 애니메이션들을 분석하고 상호 비교하였다. 분석 결과 두 가지의 흐름을 읽을 수 있었다. 첫 번째, 시대별로 많이 사용한 연출요소가 있으며 시대가 흐를수록 변신 소녀 애니메이션의 변신 장면이 섬세해지고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 연출요소 중에서는 레이아웃과 카메라 연출이 가장 많은 변화를 보인 반면에 색채는 가장 적은 변화를 보였다. 또한, 변신 소녀 애니메이션이 제작된 시대와 국가의 여성 권리에 따라 변신 소녀 연출에 영향을 준다는 것도 알 수 있었다. 소극적인 여성상을 가졌던 1960년대에는 변신 구조도 단순한 형태를 띠고 있었으나 여성이 고용시장에서 점차 활성화되는 1980년대에 와서는 변신의 목적성이 분명해졌다. 여성의 권리가 확대된 1990년대와 2000년대에서는 변신 소녀들이 자신을 소개하는 변신 구호가 새롭게 붙여졌으며 복수의 변신 소녀가 등장하여 시청자들이 좋아하는 여성 캐릭터를 선택할 수 있게 되었다. 2010년대에는 여아를 위한 완구와 미디어 서비스들이 확산됨에 따라 변신 소녀들도 완구를 이용한 변신 연출이 증가하였다. 두 번째로 국가별로 분석한 결과 변신 장면이 국가에 따른 문화에 영향을 받고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 국내에서는 완구를 직접 시연하는 모습의 클로즈업을 이용한 연출이 많았다. 일본에서는 기존 변신 소녀들과 차별화되는 변신 장면을 만들기 위한 노력으로 다채로운 레이아웃을 사용했다. 그리고 중국은 급격한 기술 발전으로 인해 변신 소녀에 나타난 연출요소들이 가장 다양하게 나타났다. 또한 이탈리아에서는 주인공이 가진 속성을 이용한 연출이 돋보였다. 각 나라에서 어떤 여성상을 표출하고 있는지에 관하여도 분석을 통해 알 수 있었다. 한국의 경우 꾸미고 예뻐지는 과정을 부각한 외모지상주의의 여성상이 담겨있었다. 일본의 경우 클리셰를 비틀려고 노력했음에도 묘사된 여성성은 나약함을 보였으며, 미국의 경우 영웅적인 이미지를 통하여 적극적인 여성성을 강조하였다. 그리고 이탈리아의 경우 고귀한 신분에 상징을 부여한 여성 이미지를 보여주었다. 본 연구는 이러한 두 흐름에 따라 앞으로의 변신 소녀 애니메이션이 시대적, 국가적으로 어떤 방향을 띠고 있으며 앞으로 방향이 어떻게 전개될 것인지 제안하였다. 향후 변신 소녀 애니메이션을 기획할 때 변신 소녀 애니메이션의 변신 모티프에 대하여 시대적, 국가적 고민을 충분히 한 후에 제작할 것을 권한다.;Transformation girl animations, in which female characters transform themselves from the previous appearances using magical power and lead narratives, have been steadily loved by viewers. For half a century, they have made constant efforts to express transformed girls more creatively and beautifully in order to maintain the popularity. In particular, the scene with most salient expressions of the transformation motif is the transformation of a heroine. The scene of becoming a transformed girl using magic includes the direction that best fills the viewers’ aspirations and desires of transformation. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to understand the direction characteristics of transformation girl animations by focusing on their transformation scenes. In terms of the transformation direction of animations, the study analyzed the development of transformation girl animations per country and era, and their future direction based on literature and cases. By reviewing the previous studies, this study examined the definition of transformation and transformation girl animations and closely explored the direction elements of transformation girl animations in 60 cases. Above all, by reviewing the previous studies, the study investigated transformation direction revealed in the animations and identified its systems and types. Moreover, the characteristics commonly known in transformation girl animations were confirmed to be verified by an expert. Based on the validated factors, the analysis index table for the case analysis was produced to include the direction indicators frequently used in the transformation scenes. Next, in accordance with the analysis criteria, the study compared the expressions most emphasized in the transformation scenes of transformation girl animations. According to the results of the analysis, the direction methods and development of the transformation girls were classified by year and country. The comprehensive results revealed how the transformation scene direction has been developed and expressed. As a result, the two following trends were found. First, there are elements of production that have been used many times, and as the age goes on, we can see that the transformation of the transformed girl animation is becoming more and more delicate. Among the production elements, layout and camera production showed the most changes, while color showed the least. In addition, it was found that the animation influenced the production of the transformed girl, depending on the age of the animation and the rights of women in the country. In the 1960s, when female rights were in the passive position, the transformation structure was simple, but the purpose of the transformation became clear in the 1980s when women were increasingly active in the job market. In the 1990s and 2000s when women's rights expanded, transformational girls started to announce their own slogans in the middle of the transformation scene. Also, transformational girls were introduced to choose the female characters they liked. As toys and media services for girls have been spreading in the 2010s, the transformation of girls using toys has also increased. The second analysis by country showed that the transformation scene was influenced by the culture of each country. In Korea, there have been many shots using close-up shots that demonstrate the use of toys. In Japan, they used various type of layouts in an effort to create transform scenes that differentiate them from former transform girl animations. China showed the most improved elements in transformed girls due to rapid technological development. In Italy, the performance using the attributes of the main character was outstanding. The analysis also review what women images each country is expressing. In the case of Korea, it contained a woman's appearance that emphasized the process of decorating and beauty. In Japan, despite efforts to twist the Cliche, the female character described was weak and in the U.S. she emphasized active femininity through a heroic image. And Italy, in the case of Italy, showed a woman image that symbolized her noble status. These two trends suggested the orientation of the transformation girl animations and their future orientation of each era and country, which recommended that the creators of transformation girl animation should fully consider these before its production. It is expected that the analysis of this study can be actively applied to the relevant creators in the future, thereby contributing to the popularity of the animations which give the viewers the inspiration of the transformation motif.
