Abstract
18(Sonata for Violin and Piano in E♭Major, Op. 18; TrV 151, 1887-88)'을 연구한 것이다. This dissertation is about the 'Sonata for Violin and Piano in E♭Major, Op. 18; TrV 151' by Richard Georg Strauss(1864-1949) which is the program of the master's degree recital I played. The purpose of the study is to provide more information that enables the players to learn academic depth with understanding various styles of music. First of all, in order to understand the reasons for changing the compositional technique, I studied the whole life of the composer and the characteristics of the work by time-periodic. Also, the Western musical history is referred to an integrated way. And then I analyzed the composition of music into simpler components within its role and function, and also added the author's musical interpretation here. It is the only Violin Sonata that written by R. Strauss was composed in the period when his musical style was shifted from neoclassicism to latter romanticism. Therefore, there are two different styles of music in this work. It has a lot of classical aspects such as the composition of duo for violin and piano, the sonata form consisting of three movements, the repetition of theme and its modification. But there are also romantic elements such as chromatic progression and modulation, particular chords, and syncopation rhythms. It looks like a prediction of symphonic poems and operas that R. Strauss wrote later. This dissertation can help improving the understanding level of the transitional period that appeared in this work.
