Dmitri Shostakovich의 Sonata in d minor Op. 40 for Cello and Piano에 관한 연구 분석

Abstract

본 논문은 드미트리 쇼스타코비치(Dmitri Dmitrievich Shostakovich, 1906– 1975)의 첼로소나타 Op. 40(Sonata in d minor op. 40 for Cello and Piano)에 관한 연구 분석이다. 쇼스타코비치는 20세기 러시아의 대표적인 음악가로 소비에트 연방시절 사회주의 체제 속에서 정치적인 압박을 받으면서 실내악, 오페라, 교향곡에서 발레, 연극, 영화음악에 이르기까지 다양한 장르의 작품을 남겼다. 쇼스타코비치의 음악은 다섯 개의 시기로 나뉜다. 제 1기는 1906~1926년, 제 2기는 1926~1936년, 제 3기는 1936~1953년, 제 4기는 1953~1962년, 제 5기는 1963~1975년으로 분류한다. 본 논문의 주제인 쇼스타코비치의 첼로 소나타 Op. 40은 쇼스타코비치 생애의 제 2기에 해당하는 1934년에 작곡된 그의 유일한 첼로 소나타이며 신고전주의적인 특징이 나타난다. 이 작품은 전통적인 소나타 형식인 4악장으로 구성되어 있고, 제 1악장은 소나타형식, 제 2악장은 복합 3부분 형식, 제 3악장은 3부분형식, 제 4악장은 론도형식으로 이루어져있다. 본 논문은 쇼스타코비치의 시기별 생애와 음악세계에 대해 살펴본 후, 쇼스타코비치 첼로 소나타 Op. 40의 작품 배경 및 형식, 화성. 선율, 리듬 분석을 통하여 쇼스타코비치가 추구하고자 했던 음악관에 대하여 살펴보고 그의 음악을 심도 있게 이해하고자 하는데 목적이 있다. ;This thesis relates to Cello Sonata in d minor op. 40 by Dmitri Shostakovich (1906-1975). Shostakovich, one of the influential musicians of Russia during the 20th Century, composed pieces of classical music under the political pressure during the Socialist realism, wherein his life and music reflect such state of the period. The music of Shostakovich divides into five sections of time periods by Noel Goodwin. The first period begins from 1906 to 1926 wherein Shostakovich was educated at the conservatory. The second period carries on from 1926 until 1936 which was under the influence of the popular Western modernism of the era. The third period is from 1936 to 1953 when a socialistic and general music was required by the regime of Stalin. The fourth period began in 1953 right after the death of Stalin until 1962 when musical compositions became footloose. Lastly, the fifth period was the last ten years of Shostakovich, from 1963 to 1975. Cello Sonata Op. 40 of Shostakovich is his one and only piece of Cello Sonata composed in 1934 during the second period, specified with Neo-classicism style of music. In a traditional sonata form, this piece is composed of four movements, the first movement as a sonata form, the second movement in a compound ternary form. the third movement in a ternary form, and the last movement in rondo. With regard to the format, there appear traditional aspects. However, with regard to tonality and harmony, the piece is quite deviated from the standard. Further, a variety of playing methods of cello such as pizzicato, harmonic glissando, etc. are used for modern features. Hence, although Cello Sonata Op. 40 by Shostakovich was composed at a time of chaos, this piece well represents the typical musical characteristics of Shostakovich wherein the mass of elements of Neo-classicism are in consonance with the elements of 20th Century Modernism.
