중국 대학도서관 메이커스페이스 서비스 개선 방안에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 중국 대학도서관 메이커스페이스 현황과 이용자 요구 조사를 통해 중국 대학도서관 서비스 방안을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 문헌연구, 중국 대학도서관 메이커스페이스의 홈페이지 조사, 온라인 설문조사를 실시하였다. 첫째, 문헌연구는 국가별 도서관 메이커스페이스에 관한 연구를 참고하여 메이커스페이스의 도입 배경, 개념, 가치에 대해 정리하였다. 대학도서관 메이커스페이스에 관한 연구를 바탕으로 대학도서관 메이커스페이스의 의미, 가치, 필요성을 제안함으로써 대학도서관 내 메이커스페이스 도입을 위한 이론적 근거를 마련하였다. 둘째, 사례조사를 위해 중국 메이커스페이스에 관한 연구를 근거로 15개의 대학도서관 메이커스페이스를 선정하였다. 홈페이지 조사를 통해 메이커스페이스의 기본적인 서비스 현황을 파악하고, 학생 이용자를 대상으로 메이커스페이스 서비스에 관한 온라인 설문조사를 실시하였다. 설문지는 기본 사항, 프로그램, 공간, 인력, 장비, 관리, 이용자 의견으로 나누어 구성하였다. 15개의 대학 학생에게 SNS를 통해 설문을 발송하였고, 총 469부의 설문지가 회수되었으며, 성의 없는 답변이나 모든 문항이 같은 번호로 체크된 설문지를 제외한 427부의 설문지를 분석에 사용하였다. 회수된 설문지 분석을 통해 파악된 중국 대학도서관 메이커스페이스 이용자 요구들을 정리하였다. 마지막으로 이상의 조사 및 분석을 토대로 하여 중국 대학도서관 메이커스페이스 서비스를 중심으로 다음과 같이 방안을 제안하였다. 첫째, 중국 대학도서관 메이커스페이스 서비스 총체 방향을 제안하였다. 메이커스페이스의 서비스 범위는 확장되어야 하며 각 단계의 학생들을 메이커 활동에 참여시켜야 한다. 또한 다양한 방법을 통해 대학도서관 메이커스페이스를 홍보해야 한다. 대학도서관 메이커스페이스 서비스는 이용자의 요구사항을 기반으로 구축해야 하며 대학도서관의 장점을 최대한 발휘하여 대학도서관의 특성에 맞는 메이커스페이스 서비스를 제공해야 한다. 둘째, 중국 대학도서관 메이커스페이스는 오프라인 서비스를 제공할 뿐만 아니라 온라인 서비스도 제공해야 한다. 오프라인에서 다양한 공간을 제공하고 3D프린터은 물론 커퓨터, 사진/ 동영상 편집 소프트웨어등 다양한 장비를 배치해야한다. 온라인에서도 자원, 장비등의 예약, 온라인 수업등 다양한 서비스를 제공할 필요가 있다. 셋째, 중국 대학도서관 메이커스페이스에서 근무하는 사서들은 전문적인 능력과 컴퓨터 능력 등의 기본적인 능력이 필요 할 뿐만 아니라 장비의 수리, 조작, 창의적인 능력도 필요하다. 또한 이용자 관점에서 필요한 프로그램은 자신의 전공혹은 자시의 전공과 기타전공 결합하는 프로그램, 창의 세미나, 경험 공유등 같은 커뮤니티 프로그램, 장비 이용 교육등 프로그램이었다. 따라서 대학도서관 메이커스페이스는 이용자 창의적인 능력을 향상시키기 위해 창의적인 교육과 훈련을 채택해야 한다. 이러한 프로그램을 통해 이용자의 자유로운 창작 활동을 지원하고, 이용자들의 흥미를 유발하며, 메이커스페이스의 가치를 증명할 수 있다. 넷째, 중국 대학도서관 메이커스페이스 관리 서비스 방향을 제안하였다. 이용자가 가장 중시하는 관리 서비스는 설비의 관리와 예약이었다. 대학도서관 메이커스페이스 관리 서비스도 오프라인과 온라인의 두 가지 방식으로 진행할 수 있다. 오프라인에서는 사서를 통해 설비의 관리와 예약, 안전관리, 각 공간의 관리와 예약이 가능하며, 온라인 홈페이지 혹은 다양한 커뮤니티 플랫폼에서 이러한 서비스가 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 중국 대학도서관 메이커스페이스 서비스 사례와 학생 이용자 요구를 살펴보고 이를 바탕으로 중국 대학도서관 메이커스페이스 학생 이용자 요구에 맞는 대학도서관 메이커스페이스 서비스 방안들을 제안하고자 하였다. 이러한 연구는 대학도서관 메이커스페이스 서비스 이용자 요구에 대한 이해를 돕고, 대학도서관에 메이커스페이스를 도입하고 서비스 개선할 때 참고자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다. ;The purpose of this study is to recommend a service plan for Chinese university libraries through the survey of user needs and the current status of the Chinese university library's makerspace. Review of literature, a website survey of Chinese university libraries’ makerspaces and an online survey was conducted to achieve this purpose. First, the literature review summarized the background, concept, and introduction of makerspace by country. Based on previous studies about the university library makerspaces, a theoretical framework was created to introduce its meaning, value, and necessity. Second, 15 university libraries with makerspaces were selected for a case study. Each library website was examined online to verify the basic services offered. From these university libraries that were examined, an online survey of their students was conducted to assess the makerspace services being offered in their universities. The questionnaires that were distributed was organized into the basic profile, programs being offered, space being used, manpower, equipment available, management, and user feedback. These questionnaires were disseminated using social networking sites (SNS) and a total of 469 questionnaires were collected. Among these, only 427 questionnaires were completely answered and thus, were used for this study. The answers were evaluated to identify the needs of the students. Finally, focusing on the makerspaces of Chinese university libraries, the following measures were proposed based on the survey conducted and the answers that were analyzed. First, the general direction of the Chinese university libraries’ makerspace services was proposed. The scope of services for these makerspaces should be expanded to accommodate students from all year levels. Consequently, the libraries must also promote and market their services in various ways. Likewise, the services being offered in these makerspaces should be based on the users’ needs to encourage the maximum participation of the students. By doing so, the services complement with the needs of the community and the characteristics of the university library. Second, online services should also be offered to support the offline services available. In addition to the offline services currently being offered, there is a need to diversify the spaces, to offer 3D printers and make available various equipment such as photocopying machine, photo and/or video editing software. Also, it is necessary to provide various online services such as reservation of library resources, equipment, and online classes. Third, it is proposed that the competencies of the librarians working in the surveyed university libraries needs to be improved, not only their technical and computer skills but also their repair skills, ability to do something into practice, and their capacity to innovate. In addition, from the perspective of the users the necessary programs combine their major with other majors, wholistic programs such as innovation seminars, experience sharing, and the likes. Therefore, the university library makerspace should adopt innovative learning and training programs to improve their users’ ability to innovate. Providing such programs supports the users’ creative freedom, captures their interests, and demonstrate the deeper value of a makerspace. Fourth, the management of makerspaces in Chinese university libraries was also recommended. The management and the reservation of the facilities were the most valued by the users. Services can be managed in two ways, both through offline and online. In offline, the librarians and library staff can manage and facilitate the reservation of facilities and each space. But these services should also be made available online through websites or other community platforms. In this study, the circumstance of makerspaces and its services in different Chinese university libraries and the student users’ needs were examined to propose makerspace service plans suited and meets the demands and needs of students in China. This study is expected to better understand the diverse needs of users of university libraries. Similarly, this was conducted to provide reference materials to introduce and broaden the concept of a makerspace. Accordingly, this study presented suggestions to further improve the services being offered in makerspaces in China.
