2016년도 촛불시위의 재해석

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 2016년에 일어난 촛불시위를 시위 참여자의 정체성과 시위 성격의 연관성을 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 다양한 신문기사와 참여자들의 인터뷰를 활용하였고, 2008년 미국산 쇠고기 수입 반대 촛불시위와 비교·분석하였다. 그리고 Breakwell의 Identity Process Theory와 Kiecolt의 자기 개념 변화이론을 활용하여 2016년 촛불시위에 나타난 참여자들의 정체성의 변화를 살펴보았다. 분석 결과 참여자들의 개인적 정체성의 변화, 이념적 정체성의 부재, 그리고 도덕적 정체성의 강화가 일어났으며, 이를 통해 규모·기간 및 폭력성의 다양한 측면에서 정체성의 변화가 영향을 끼쳤을 것으로 나타났다. 2016년 박근혜 탄핵 촛불시위는 이전의 촛불시위와 다르게 비폭력적 평화시위로 처음부터 끝까지 진행되었으며, 규모나 기간의 측면에서도 큰 차이를 보인다. 일련의 촛불시위를 겪으면서 형성된 참여자들의 정체성의 변화가 2016 촛불시위의 성격에 영향을 끼쳤을 것으로 분석했다. 정체성의 개념이 다소 추상적이어서 측정하기 어려운 점이 있지만, 참여자들의 행동을 통해서 정체성이 표현되며 그것이 시위로 이어진다. 따라서 참여자들의 정체성의 변화와 시위의 성격이 연관성을 가지고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 참여자의 정체성으로만 시위의 성격을 분석하기에는 다소 한계를 지니기는 하지만, 정체성의 변화가 시위의 성격을 결정짓는 요인 중 하나로 작용한 것으로 보인다.;The purpose of this study is to analyze the association between the identity of the participants in the 2016 candlelight vigil and the nature of the movement. To this end, various newspaper articles and interviews with participants were used and compared and analyzed with candlelight vigils against U.S. beef imports in 2008. Using Breakwell's Identity Process Theory and Kiecolt's theory of self-concept change, I looked at the change in identity of participants in the 2016 candlelight protests. The analysis showed that the change in the personal identity of participants, lack of an ideological identity, and strengthened moral identity, which may have affected various aspects including size, duration, and violence. In comparison with other candlelight vigils, 2016 candlelight vigils were nonviolent peaceful demonstrations and have a big difference with scale and period. It is analyzed that changes in the identity of participants formed during the series of candlelight vigils may have affected the nature of the candlelight vigils in 2016. Although the concept of identity is somewhat abstract and difficult to measure, the identity is expressed through the actions of the participants, which lead to demonstrations. Thus, it can be seen that the change in the identity of the participants is related to the nature of the protests. Although the identity of the participants is limited in analyzing the nature of the protests, it appears that the change in identity has served as one of the factors that determines the nature of the protests.
