"휴먼라이브러리"를 통한 치유 공동체의 목회상담적 재구성

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 목회상담의 관점에서, 휴먼라이브러리의 접근을 통해 교회가 치유 공동체 역할을 하도록 돕는 방안을 모색하는 데 있다. 공동체는 목회상담의 정체성을 결정하는 주요한 요소로서, 목회상담에 중요한 자원이 되어왔다. 그러나 개인주의적 접근의 영향과 심리학의 발달, 그에 관련된 전문적 훈련이 증가함에 따라 목회상담 콘텍스트는 교회 공동체의 중요성을 간과하게 되었다. 시대를 막론하고 교회 공동체는 목회상담의 치유적 역할과 정체성을 결정하는 중요한 요소이다. 이에 찰스 거킨, 크리스티 누거, 바니 밀러-맥리모어, 존 패튼 등의 목회상담학자들의 연구는 목회상담 콘텍스트에서 신앙공동체와 그 치유적 역할에 대해 재조명하였다. 이들의 연구는 현대 심리학의 거센 여파에도 불구하고 신앙공동체의 목회상담의 기능인 치유와 해석의 기능을 강조하는 입장을 놓치지 않았다고 평가할 수 있다. 이러한 맥락에서, 본 연구는 오늘날 목회상담에서 가지는 치유 공동체의 의의와 그 중요성을 ‘휴먼라이브러리’를 통해 논의하였다. 공동체 안에서의 깊은 대화는 휴먼라이브러리를 결정짓는 주된 특성으로서, 개인의 목소리를 회복하는 새로운 공동체 소통의 모델로서의 의의가 있다. 이에 이 연구는 휴먼라이브러리로 일컬어지는 사회 운동의 모델을 원형 삼아 목회상담과 치유 공동체의 구체적 대안을 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 휴먼라이브러리의 정의와 특성을 살펴보고, 상담적 차원의 측면에서 휴먼라이브러리가 가지는 치유적 함의에 대해 논의하였다. 휴먼라이브러리는 새로운 이야기, 지지 공동체, 다양성, 평등한 관계 등의 상담 기제를 가지고 있다. 이러한 상담적 요소는 휴먼라이브러리로 하여금 이야기의 회복을 통해 무너진 공동체를 재건한다. 나아가 휴먼라이브러리는 고통 받는 현대인들의 문제를 해소할 수 있는 치유의 공동체로서의 의의가 있다. 본 연구는 오늘날 목회상담의 관점에서 휴먼라이브러리를 활용하여 교회 공동체가 치유의 공동체로 재구성되기 위한 실질적인 방안을 모색하였다. 오늘날 한국 교회의 가장 큰 문제점은 ‘이야기의 상실’로 꼽을 수 있다. 휴먼라이브러리 공동체에서 이야기의 회복은 교회 공동체 구성원간의 상호 교류를 이끌어 내며, 모든 차이에서 비롯된 갈등을 극복한다. 이렇게 재구성된 교회는 공동체적인 삶을 회복하며, 화해와 치유로 이어지는 것이다. 즉, 교회의 본질인 코이노니아를 실현하는 것이다. 현대 사회에서 지친 영혼 돌봄의 책임을 가진 목회상담은 사람들의 영적 필요와 사회상황적 변화에 적절하게 대응하기 위한 계속적인 노력이 필요하다. 따라서 휴먼라이브러리를 통해 재구성된 교회 공동체는 구성원들이 소통과 삶의 이야기 나눔을 통해 소외와 편견을 극복하며, 나아가 우리 사회의 진정한 희망의 장(場)으로 기능한다.;From the perspective of pastoral counseling, the objective of this study is to explore ways to help a church to act as a healing community through the concept of Human Library. A community has been an important resource for pastoral counseling as a key factor in determining the identity of pastoral counseling. However, with the influences of the individualist approach, development of psychology and increasing the related professional training, the context of pastoral counseling has overlooked the importance of a church community. Throughout the eras, a church community is a significant determinant of the healing role and identity of pastoral counseling. Thus, pastoral counseling researchers, such as Charles Gerkin, Christie Neuger, Bonnie Miller-McLemore, John Patton reexamined a faith community and its healing role in the context of pastoral counseling. Despite the enormous influence of contemporary psychology, their studies have not neglected the emphasis on healing and interpretation, which is the major function of pastoral counseling in a faith community. In this regard, this study discussed the significance of a healing community in the current pastoral counseling using ‘Human Library’, investigating the concrete alternatives of pastoral counseling and a healing community based on a prototype of the model of the social movement called ‘Human Library'. A deep conversation within the community is the main characteristics determining Human Library and has further significance as a model of communication of new community restoring individual voice. This study examined the definition and characteristics of Human Library, and identified its healing implications in terms of pastoral counseling. Human Library has counseling mechanisms including ‘alternative story', ‘support group', ‘diversity', and ‘equal relationship'. These counseling elements reconstruct the collapsed communities through the restoration of narratives. Moreover, Human Library has significance as a healing community that can solve the problem of suffering individuals in the contemporary society. This study also suggested practical ways to reorganize a church community as a healing community by using Human Library from the viewpoint of contemporary pastoral counseling. The biggest problem of contemporary Korean churches is the loss of stories. Restoration of narratives in a community through Human Library leads to mutual exchange among the members of the church community and overcomes conflicts arising from all differences. This reconstructed church restores a communal life, leading to reconciliation and healing. In other words, it is to realize Koinonia, the essence of the church. Pastoral counseling, which is responsible for caring of weary souls in this contemporary society, requires continuous exertion to properly respond to individuals’ spiritual needs and social changes. Therefore, the church community reconstructed through Human Library can function as a place for genuine hope in our society by overcoming the alienation and prejudice through communication and sharing of life stories.
