고양이 이미지를 이용한 주얼리 디자인 연구

Abstract

In the 18th century, the German philosopher Immanuel Kant‘s book called 『Critique of Judgement』 put forward the proposition that “Nature is beautiful when it looks like art, and art is beautiful when it looks like nature.”In this way, human’s philosophical thoughts and concerns about nature are expressed in various ways in various fields. Especially in nature, animals live with human and are an important artistic expression theme which shares history. Among them, cats have a unique mystical personality and bold actions, they are accompanied by the origins of human civilization and their origins. And since they are regarded as a sign of idolatry and a symbol of the nation, they became source of inspiration for many famous artists to nowadays. In this research, I made a wearable artwork with function as an object. by expressing the cats' formative characteristics, flexibility of their body, and dynamic movements in their daily life abstractly. The research method of the work was based on studying the professional books and literal data of relationship between the cats and the human relationship, and the formative characteristics of cat, and also by studying jewelry and precious metal. It was designed by ‘inspiration-drawing-sketch’ process based on the research and In order to enhance the perfection of the pre-production works, we used 2D hand rendering, Illustrator, 3D key shot program to predict the finished jewelry image in a virtual environment. Also, to maximize the vitality by the movement of cats, Rhino 3D CAD program, which is easy to design precise modeling, was used. The jewelry is made by hand embroidering technique such as hand fabrication line, face making, pipe making, folding and trimming, and wax sculpture, lost wax casting wax model, burial, firing, casting, finishing. Finally, I have studied how to produce works with accuracy and efficiency by using the original design which is output by 3D printer which is a ‘Proto – typing’ technique and it is meaningful to develop jewelry design of cat which is based on their biological, social characteristics, and their formative beauty. The findings from this study indicate that it is meaningful to research historical, biological and cultural characteristics in human relations with cats and to develop jewelry design with its formative beauty and function. In the era of the 10 million pet population, people’s interest in cats is rising because they are easier to raise than other animals and it naturally increasing demand for products related to cats. Thus, I will continue to research on cat theme and will produce jewelry that gives people emotional stability. ;18세기 후반 독일의 철학자 임마누엘 칸트 (Immanuel Kant)는 (판단력 비판)에서 “자연미는 아름다운 사물이며 예술미는 사물을 아름답게 표현하는 방법에 있고 이상미는 아름다운 사물을 아름다운 표상으로 한다."라고 하였다. 즉, 자연이라는 주제에 아름답게 표현하고 인간의 철학적 사고와 관심을 여러 분야에서 다양한 방법으로 표출되어진다. 특히 자연에서 동물은 인간과 함께 그 역사를 공유하는 중요한 예술 표현 주제이다. 그 중 고양이는 본래 특유의 신비로운 성격과 대담한 행동으로 인류문명 발생과 기원을 함께해 과거에는 우상 숭배의 표시와 민족의 상징으로 여겨진다. 이와 같이 고양이의 의미는 고대 이집트에서 부터 현대까지 다양하며 많은 유명 예술가들의 영감의 원천이 되어 여러 예술 작품의 주제로서 등장하고 있다. 이에 필자는 고양이와 함께 생활하며 생활 속에서 탐구한 고양이의 조형성, 신체의 유연성과 우아한 움직임에서 받은 감성을 간결화, 극대화 시켜 이상적으로 표현함으로서 오브제로서의 기능을 지닌 착용 가능한 주얼리 제작을 목적으로 한다. 작품 제작을 위한 연구 방법은 전문서적과 문헌자료를 통해 작품의 이론적 배경인 고양이와 인간의 관계와 고양이의 조형성에 대해 살펴보아서 이에 적합한 천연보석 과 귀금속 소재 연구를 통해 고양이 이미지 주얼리 제작을 위한 기초를 다졌다. 조사한 내용을 바탕으로 주얼리 디자인 이미지 전개인‘이미지-드로잉-스케치’의 과정을 걸쳐 디자인 하였고, 실물 제작 전 작품의 완성도를 높이기 위하여 2D 핸드렌더링(Hand rendering), 3D 키샷 (Keyshot) 프로그램을 활용하여 가상 속에서 완성된 주얼리 이미지를 예측해 보았다. 또한 고양이의 움직임에서 느껴지는 생명력을 극대화하기 위해 정밀한 모델링 설계가 용이한 라이노 3D 캐드 (Rhino 3D CAD) 프로그램을 사용하였다. 주얼리 제작은 금속 입체가공기법 (Hand Fabrication)을 사용한 뒤 왁스 조각 후 탈납주조 (Lost wax casting) 과정을 거쳐 제작하였다. 마지막으로 프로토타이핑 (Proto Typing) 기법인 3D 프린터로 출력한 디자인원본을 이용하여 작품을 정확성과 효율성 있게 제작 하는 방법으로 한다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 인간과 고양이와의 관계에서 역사적·생물학적· 문화적 특징을 연구하고 이를 바탕으로 한 조형적 아름다움과 기능을 지닌 주얼리 디자인을 개발 하는데 의미가 있다. 반려동물 인구 1000만 시대에 다른 종의 동물에 비해 키우기 편리한 고양이에 대한 관심도는 자연스레 고양이와 관련된 상품에 대한 수요 증가로 이어졌다. 이에 필자는 고양이를 주제로 한 주얼리 제작을 위해 앞으로도 다양한 보석과 귀금속을 혼합하여 애묘인들 에게 정서적 안정감을 줄 수 있는 주얼리 작품 제작을 계속 하고자 한다.
