현대건축 외피와 물성특성에 의한 표현유형 연구

Abstract

건축물의 외피는 시간의 흐름에 따라 그 의미가 변화하고 각색된다. 또한 외피는 도시변화에 민감하게 반응하며, 현대건축에서는 물질의 비물질화가 외피를 통해 나타나고 있었다. 이러한 통시적 관점에서 바라본 현대의 양상을 본 연구자는 학회 저널을 통하여 기초연구를 진행하였다. 본 연구에서는 학회 저널에서 언급한 물성연구를 넘어서, 실제 공간에 적용하는 디자인연구를 진행하였다. 물질이 지닌 외피적 성격이 사람들의 감각을 어떻게 확장하는지, 이로써 건축과 사람 사이에 존재하는 외피라는 경계가 모호해지는 것을 규명하고자 하였다. 현대건축의 복합적 외피는 단순한 이차원적 면이 아닌 인간의 지각을 확장하고 행위를 창출하는 ‘경계 공간’으로 이해되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구의 범위는 건축외피에 한정하고, 외피의 물성표현 방법에 집중하였다. 이는 외피의 물질표현에 집중한 건축가들의 건축물을 사례를 통하여 반복적으로 나타나는 각 표현특성을 ‘상실’, ‘생성’, ‘초월’로 정의할 수 있었다. 모든 비물질성표현은 유희적 실험을 바탕으로 표현되고 있지만, 세부적으로는 공간기능이 강화되거나 도시를 함축적으로 표현하고 있었다. 이러한 비관습적 물성표현은 사람들의 지각을 확장하는 것이자, 잠재된 재료의 부가가치를 도출하는데 목표하는 것이었다. 하지만 최근의 건축외피는 주변 환경과 분리되어 단독의 이미지처럼 고착되어있다. 오늘날의 외피에 대한 패러다임을 부정하는 것은 아니지만, 외피를 포함한 현대건축공간은 도시와 상보적인 관점에서 시대를 표현해야한다. 이러한 의미에서 건축 재료가 지닌 부가가치의 다양성 연구와 실험은 현시대를 담은 성숙한 공간표현의 플랫폼 역할이 될 것이다. ;The surface of contemporary architecture is clearly different from that of modern architecture. The surface of architecture is defined as paradigmatic element that is sensitive to city change and is understood as ‘boundary space’ by extending perception and creating further action of human. Therefore, the goal of this research is to focus on the surface of architecture that has changed over time to find out the potential value of material and to understand the representative symbol which symbolizes an era of the architecture. Through the literature, I examined the role of changed surface in the understanding of modern architecture, and was able to elaborate presentation aspect that surface of contemporary architecture presents. The non-materialization has appeared through the surface in the modern time and its matter and materiality of materials were examined by many studies in order to understand non-materialization. In addition, I was able to define expression as ‘loss’, ‘creation’ and ‘transcendence’ after observing repetitive expression patterns from specific architectures of architects who focus on matter expression of surface. From case analysis, we drew a conclusion that immateriality expression of surface harmonizes human and architecture with emotional expression of matter. In other words, matter expression of contemporary architecture stimulates and expands human’s perception by implicitly expressing every components of the city through the surface. However, surface of recent architecture is now separated from its surrounding environment and limits itself on a plane like an unilateral image. It does not mean that I disagree with today’s paradigm of architecture surface but it should express images of our time with both contemporary architecture and the city in a complementary relation. The variety experiments and studies with their valuable and potential materials will become important roles that play the platform of spatial expression in mature contemporary architecture that we live in.
