Abstract

본 논문은 본인의 석사과정 졸업연주 곡목인 루트비히 판 베토벤(Ludwig van Beethoven, 1770-1827)의 「Piano Sonata No. 7, Op. 10, No. 3」, 로베르트 슈만(Robert Alexander Schumann, 1810-1856)의 「Davidsbündlertänze, Op. 6」, 로웰 리버만(Lowell Liebermann, 1961-)의 「Gargoyles, Op. 29」에 대한 작품해설이다. 베토벤은 고전시대를 대표하는 음악가로 고전시대 음악양식을 확립하였으며, 낭만시대의 문을 여는 결정적 역할을 했던 작곡가이다. 그의 32개 피아노 소나타 중 하나인「Piano Sonata No. 7, Op. 10, No. 3」은 1797-1798년 사이에 작곡된 초기 작품으로, 선대의 고전 양식을 토대로 형식이나 주제를 자유롭게 발전시키려는 그의 시도가 담긴 작품이다. 이 곡은 네 개의 악장으로 구성되어 있으며, 각 악장은‘소나타-알레그로, 소나타-알레그로, 미뉴에트, 론도-소나타’의 형식으로 이루어져있다. 슈만은 19세기 낭만주의를 대표하는 음악가로서, 개인의 감정이나 사상의 자유로운 표현을 우선시하였다. 그의 초기 작품「Davidsbündlertänze, Op. 6」 또한 낭만주의적 성향을 짙게 띄고 있는 슈만의 대표적‘성격 소품’이다. 18개의 곡으로 구성되어 있으며, 클라라(Clara Josephine Schumann, 1819-1896)에 대한 사랑의 감정이 작품 전반에 나타난다. 슈만은「Davidsbündlertänze, Op. 6」을 통해 자유로운 형식 안에서 다양한 성격의 표현을 강조한 낭만주의 음악의 특징을 뚜렷이 보여주고 있다. 리버만은 미국의 신낭만주의를 대표하는 작곡가이며, 그의 음악은 고전적 형식에 기초하여 낭만주의의 자유로운 표현과 인상주의 음악의 색채, 무조 경향의 조성 사용을 통하여 여러 시대를 아우르는 특징을 가지고 있다. 네 개의 악장으로 구성된「Gargoyles, Op. 29」에서는 현대적 작곡 기법과 낭만주의의 성향을 효과적으로 결합한 리버만의 피아노 작품의 특징을 확연히 볼 수 있다. ;This study explores three piano works selected from the writer’s graduate recital, which include: L. v. Beethoven’s 「Piano Sonata No. 7, Op. 10, No. 3」, R. Schumann’s 「Davidsbündlertänze, Op. 6」, L. Liebermann’s 「Gargoyles, Op. 29」. Ludwig van Beethoven(1770-1827) is a representative composer in the Classical period. He played an important role in the transition from the Classical era to the Romantic era.「Piano Sonata No.7, Op.10, No. 3」, one of his 32 piano sonatas, was written between 1797 and 1798, which belongs to his early period. He attempted to develop a musical style based on the Classical style, which his predecessors had achieved. This sonata consists of four movements, and each movement is cast in the forms of‘Sonata-Allegro, Sonata-Allegro, Minuet, and Sonata-Rondo'. Robert Alexander Schumann(1810-1856) is considered as a musician representing 19th-century Romanticism, emphasizing the expression of individual feelings or ideas. Schumann's early piano work,「Davidsbündlertänze, Op. 6」, consisting of 18 pieces, is his representative 'Character Piece'. In addition, the work shows Schumann’s love for his beloved Clara as he uses a motive borrowed from Clara Wieck’s 「Soirées Musicales, Op. 6, No. 5」in the opening.「Davidsbündlertänze, Op. 6」, clearly exhibits a tendency toward being individual and subjective in the Romantic period. Lowell Lieberman(1961- ) is an American composer, representing neo-Romanticism. Based on the Classical style, his music incorporates the free expression of Romanticism, the atmosphere of Impressionism, and the use of atonality.「Gargoyles, Op. 29」, consisting of four movements, demonstrates the characteristics of Lieberman's piano music, in combining both traditional and modern compositional techniques.
