19세기 고급 창부(Demi-mondain) 특징에 근거한 캐릭터 분석과 음악적 표현 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 오페라 ≪카르멘≫(Carmen), ≪라 보엠≫(La Boheme), ≪라 트라비아타≫(La Traviata)의 여자주인공‘카르멘’,‘미미’,‘비올레타’를 중심으로 19세기 고급 창부들이 이 작품들의 대본과 아리아에 어떻게 특징적으로 나타나는지 연구 하는 것이 목적이다. 필자는 연구를 위해 19세기의 고급 창부들의 탄생 배경과 사회적 위치를 알아보았고, 이 여성들이 구체적으로 표현된 작품 세 가지를 통해 이들의 특징들을 연구하였다. 특히 그 중 아리아 ˂사랑은 길들지 않는 새˃(L'amour est un oiseau, Habanera), ˂내 이름은 미미˃(Si, Mi chiamano Mimi), ˂이상해! 이상해!...아! 그대였던가˃(È strano! è strano! Ah! fors'è lui)를 중심으로 이들의 특징들을 살펴보았고, 작곡가들이 고급 창부의 특징을 어떻게 음악적으로 표현했는지 가사와 악보를 통하여 고찰하였다. ˂사랑은 길들지 않는 새˃(L'amour est un oiseau, Habanera)는 반음계적인 춤곡 리듬으로 주인공의 관능적이고 매혹적인 성격을 표현하였다. 특히 자유분방하고 솔직한 모습을 보여주는 가사에서는 품위와 상관없이 자신의 미를 과시하며 노골적으로 유혹하는 그리제트의 성격이 잘 나타난다. ˂내 이름은 미미˃(Si, Mi chiamano Mimi)는 동음반복과 계속적인 하행선율을 통해 미미의 내면을 표현하고 있다. 가사에서는 본명과 자신의 처지를 소개하며 롤레트 삶의 특징을 보여준다. ˂이상해! 아, 그대였던가˃(È strano! è strano! Ah! fors'è lui)는 빠르기 변화와 계속적인 도약 선율을 통해 여주인공 비올레타의 혼란스러운 심경을 잘 표현하고 있다. 페르마타와 쉼표를 자주 사용함으로써 고급 창부와 순수한 사랑의 사이에서 갈등하는 내면을 표현하였고, 극적인 트레몰로 반주부 위에 동음반복으로 나오는 가사들은 당시 코르티잔의 내면이 잘 드러난다. 화려한 선율과 리듬을 통해 화려한 코르티잔의 겉모습을 표현하지만, 그 속에서의 비순차적인 스케일과 쉼표, 붓점, 트릴 사용을 통해 주인공 내면의 심리 변화를 잘 표현하고 있다.;The purpose of this study is to analyze how Demi-mondain of the 19th century are marked in arias and script with the main focus on the female main characters 'Carmen,' 'Mimi,' and 'Violetta' appearing in the operas of ≪Carmen≫,≪La Boheme≫, and ≪La Traviata≫. To attain the purpose, the author investigated the background of the birth of Demi-mondain(luxury prostitutes) of the 19th century and their social positions, and studied the features of the three works which describe women in detail. Especially among these arias, the features of ˂L'amour est un oiseau, Habanera˃, ˂Si, Mi chiamano Mimi˃, and ˂È strano! è strano! Ah! fors'è lui˃ were investigated in depth. The characteristics of Demi-mondain (luxury prostitutes) that composers embodied into a piece of music were considered, based on song lines and musical notes. ˂L'amour est un oiseau, Habanera˃ is chromatic dance song rhythm which describes voluptuous and sexy tendency of the female main character. In particular, the song lines which show liberal and frank propensity of the character reflects vividly her disposition as Grisette (As one of prostitute classes, Grisette earns money by having sexual relations for part-time job) openly seducing a man, boating of her sexy beauty without regard to her dignity. ˂Si, Mi chiamano Mimi˃ delivers the inner psychology of Mimi, through tautophony and continuous down melody. The song lines show a specific propensity that the female character has as Lorettes (As one of prostitute classes, Lorettes has sexual relations with men of Bourgeois men class), delivering that the female main character tells her name and situation to a man named Rodolfo. ˂È strano! è strano! Ah! fors'è lui˃ delivers the confused emotion of the female main character Violetta through changing speed and continuous cambiata in a touching manner. By using fermata and rest symbols, the work expressed inner conflicts that the male main character feels, having true love for Demi-mondain(luxury prostitute). Vocal melody lines using tautophony harmonized with dramatic tremolo accompaniment mirror plainly the inner psychology of Courtesan (As one of prostitute classes, Courtesean has sexual relations with men of rich or noble class). The work expresses the spectacular appearance of Courtesan, through impressive melody and rhythm while describing plainly the changing inner psychology state of the main character through non-sequential scale, rest, dotted rhythm and trill.
