Let's enjoy English with different countries' food!

Abstract

The English education system in Korea puts a lot of focus on language structure, which has resulted in a passive attitude in young Korean students. Since they mainly focus on improving their English grades by learning grammar, reading and spelling, they are not comfortable communicating with foreigners in English. To address this issue, Korean students need to be exposed to more interactive activities, which involve meaningful tasks that require real communication for language learning. This textbook encourages students to practice the 4 skills in English actively and to participate in a variety of tasks based on familiar topics. The group of students I seek to address is fourth grade students. The target learners’ level is Advanced-mid according to ACTFL and they are in an after-school program.
