Abstract
The purpose of this study is to design a business Korean instruction syllabus by fortifying the stance of enterprises, so that both at home and abroad Korean learners who want to work for Korean enterprises can prepare to find employment according to recruitment process of Korean enterprises. As the status of Korea having been raised, more and more groups of people are learning Korean with a variety of purposes; especially the increasing number of international students with implementation of Study Korea Project has bred up special groups with goals of settling in Korea or being employed by Korean enterprises after returning to their countries. This research has started from that despite the increasing number of people who want to find jobs in Korean enterprises, there are not many studies that suggest ways to prepare for recruitments according to the enterprises’ complicated hiring processes. The majority of studies about recruitment for local residents are highlighting the needs of enterprises such as ‘specialized recruitment consulting’ and ‘recruitment specialized education’, and it was possible to infer from this that the stance of the enterprises who conduct recruitment when designing business Korean instruction programs related to finding a job. The first chapter suggested the necessity and aim of the research and looked into preceding studies. Preceding researches about business Korean have been discussed from various aspects, and among those about business instruction programs, it was easy to find researches showing needs for educational curriculum about employment preparation, whose lack resulted in difficulties. However, there are not many previous studies that include ‘learners who haven’t been employed yet’ as the subjects for business, and this meant that not many researches in which the processes of preparing for recruitment, or ‘preparatory activities in advance of employment’ were not included in educational curriculum. Additionally, considering researches that included ‘learners who haven’t been employed yet’ as the subjects for business Korean, there are limitations in practicality as the designing of educational curriculum focus on the needs of learners. The second chapter clarified that ‘learners who haven’t been employed yet’ are the subjects of business Korean, and looked into the classification system of Koreans for specific purpose, in order to distinguish the learning subjects of business Korean from those of Korean for occupations. Also, theories about the definition, procedures, and activities related to ‘preparatory activities for employment’ were identified, and in order to extract tasks for employment preparation activities, theories related instruction programs of both inside and outside of Korea and current situations of overall recruitments of Korean enterprises were dealt with. Thereby, the frame of tasks to use for demand investigation was prepared. The third chapter showed the research methods. The research is proceeded in order of pre-investigation (a literature investigation) -> pilot investigation (a survey) -> main investigation (a survey and in-depth interview). After the tasks selected throughout the pre-investigation were examined by teachers of Korean and groups of recruiters for their liability and appropriateness, the main investigation was proceeded. In main investigation, the demand investigation was don through a survey whose subjects were recruiters, learners of Korean, and specialized group of foreign workers; then, with in-depth interview with some of the recruiters, the needs of recruiters were highlighted in designing instruction programs. The chapter four analyzed the results from the surveys and in-depth interviews previously done. Personal information of each group was analyzed throughout frequency analysis; and how the results of importance of preparatory activities for employment per stages and tasks vary according to each group was analyzed and discussed using one way ANOVA (Analysis of Variance). Then, practical examples of instruction programs that were synthetically designed with the results were suggested The chapter five suggested the conclusion and limitations of this research and finished it. Throughout the procedures of this research, it was possible to understand the difference of perceptions between learners of Korean, current professional foreign workers, and recruiters of enterprises when it comes to what tasks they regard as important in employment. Especially when employing professional foreign workers, because the tasks that the recruiters of enterprises consider as important are the same with the standards of evaluation, learners of Korean who want to be employed need to prepare for recruitment having such tasks at the center, and educational curriculum should be designed in accordance with it. By providing the groups of people who want to work for Korean enterprises with business Korean instruction programs in which the needs of the enterprises were highlighted, this research intend to raise the authenticity and practicality of business Korean education and contribute to following researches about education of business Korean related to recruitment.
