유아의 기질 및 부부갈등과 부모공동양육이 어머니의 양육행동에 미치는 영향

Abstract

The primary purpose of this study was to examine direct effects of preschoolers' temperament and marital conflict on mothers' parenting behavior and indirect effects via coparenting. Data were drawn from the research data of Child and Family Research project supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea. The sample included 151 mothers of 3- to 4-year-old preschoolers attending one of 18 daycare centers in Seoul. Mothers completed questionnaires on their child’s temperament, their marital conflict, coparenting, and their parenting behavior. Data were analyzed by using structural equation modeling (SEM). The major findings of this study were as follows.: First, regarding the direct effects, mothers of preschoolers with higher adaptibility levels and lower activity levels demonstrated more positive parenting behavior, whereas marital conflict had no direct effect on parenting. Second, regarding the indirect effects, preschoolers’adaptability levels and marital conflict had indirect effects on mothers' parenting behavior via coparenting. These results indicate that preschoolers' temperament affects mothers' parenting indirectly via coparenting as well as directly, whereas marital conflict indirectly affects parenting through coparenting. In addition, among the independent variables, coparenting was the most influential factor on maternal parenting behavior. These findings have implications for the future research and practices by emphasizing the importance of goodness of fit and coparenting in designing parenting programs for parents of preschoolers.;본 연구는 유아기 자녀의 어머니들을 대상으로 유아의 기질 및 부부갈등, 부모공동양육, 그리고 어머니의 양육행동 간의 경로를 탐색하는 것을 주목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해, 유아의 기질과 부부갈등이 어머니의 양육행동에 미치는 직접적 영향과 부모공동양육을 통해 어머니의 양육행동에 미치는 간접적 영향을 살펴보았다. 본 연구는 2010년 한국연구재단의 사회과학연구지원(Social Science Korea [SSK]) 사업으로 수행된 아동가족연구단 연구자료의 일부를 이용하였다. 본 연구의 참가자는 서울시 및 수도권 소재의 18곳 국공립/민간 어린이집에 재원 중인 만 3, 4세 유아의 어머니들 151명이었다. 본 연구는 다음과 같은 자기보고식 질문지에 의해 조사되었다. 유아의 기질 척도는 Windle과 Lerner(1986)의 개정판 기질차원 검사를 서주현과 이순형(2010)이 번안·수정한 것이다. 부부갈등 척도는 Grych, Seid와 Fincham(1992)이 개발한‘아동이 지각한 부부갈등 척도(Children’s Perception of Interparental Conflict Scale [CPIC])’를 권영옥과 이정덕(1997)이 번안하여 타당화한 K-CPIC의 하위요인들 중 부부갈등의 빈도와 강도 요인을 도현심, 김민정, 김상원, 최미경과 김재희(2011)가 부모보고용으로 수정한 것이다. 본 연구에서는 부부갈등의 강도 요인 점수를 분석에 이용하였다. 부모공동양육 척도는 McHale(2000)이 개발한 부모공동양육 척도(Coparenting Scale)를 김수진과 도현심(2001)이 수정·번안한 것이며, 어머니의 양육행동 척도는 Schaefer(1995)의 어머니 양육행동 모형을 토대로 박영애(1995)가 번안·수정한 척도를 기초로 한 김문정(2003)의 척도이다. 예비 분석을 위해 SPSS 22.0 프로그램을 사용하여 평균, 표준편차 및 t 검정 및 상관관계 분석을 실시하였고, 조사도구의 신뢰도를 확인하기 위해 Cronbach’s α값을 산출하였다. 본 연구의 연구모형을 검증하기 위해 AMOS 21.0 프로그램을 사용하여 구조방정식 모형분석을 실시하였다. 유아의 기질 및 부부갈등과 부모공동양육이 어머니의 양육행동에 미치는 경로를 종합하여 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아의 기질과 부부갈등이 어머니의 양육행동에 미치는 직접적 영향과 관련하여, 유아의 적응성이 높고 활동성이 낮을수록 어머니가 긍정적 양육행동을 보였으나 부부갈등은 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 둘째, 유아의 기질과 부부갈등이 부모공동양육을 통해 어머니의 양육행동에 미치는 간접적 영향과 관련하여, 유아의 적응성과 부부갈등이 부모공동양육을 통해 어머니의 양육행동에 간접적 영향을 미쳤다. 본 연구는 유아의 기질이 어머니의 양육행동에 직접적 영향을 미칠 뿐 아니라 부모공동양육을 통해 간접적으로도 영향을 미치며, 부부갈등은 부모공동양육을 통해 어머니의 양육행동에 간접적으로 영향을 미친다는 것을 밝혔다. 또한 유아의 기질, 부부갈등 및 부모공동양육 가운데 부모공동양육이 어머니의 양육행동에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 요인임을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 어머니의 긍정적 양육행동을 촉진하기 위해, 유아의 기질에 적합한 양육행동과 협력적인 부모공동양육 역할을 학습하도록 돕는 부모교육 및 상담 프로그램의 기초자료로 활용될 수 있다는 점에서 그 의의가 있다.
