문·이과 통합 교육을 위한 고전시가 교육 방안 연구

Abstract

본고는 2015년 개정 교육과정에 주목하여 인문학적 상상력과 과학기술 창조력을 갖춘 창의·융합형 인재 양성을 위한 문·이과 통합 교육이 국어과의 문학 교육의 차원에서도 이루어질 수 있다는 점을 연구의 출발점으로 삼았다. 따라서 이에 기여할 수 있는 고전시가 교육의 새로운 방향에 대해 제안하고자 하였다. 이는 그간의 고전시가 교육이 안고 있는 문제점과 한계를 극복하기 위한 시도인 동시에, 특별히 문학에 흥미를 느끼지 못하거나 어려워하는 이과적 성향의 학습자들을 위한 문·이과 통합형 고전시가 교육 방안을 마련하는 것을 목표로 한다. 선행 연구 검토를 통해, 개정 교육과정이 실현하고자 하는 통합 교육의 취지와 목적에 부합하는 문·이과 통합을 위한 고전시가 교육 방안 마련에 대한 기초를 다졌다. 선행연구는 크게 세 가지 유형으로 나누어, 통합 교육에 대한 논의가 있기에 앞서 이루어진 융합 교육에 관한 연구와 문·이과 통합 교육과정에 관한 연구, 더 나아가 문·이과 통합 국어과 교육에 관한 연구를 살펴보았다. 그 결과 국어 교육의 차원에서의 통합 교육에 대한 논의는 교과 내 통합에 대해서만 이루어져 왔고, 다른 학문 분야나 다른 교과와의 통합에 대한 논의는 부족하다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. Ⅱ장에서는 문·이과 통합을 위한 고전시가 교육 내용 마련을 위한 예비적 고찰로서 통합 교육의 흐름을 살피고 그 속에서 고전 문학 교육의 역할에 대해 논의하였다. 또한 실제적인 문·이과 통합을 위한 고전시가 교육 방안 마련을 위해 ‘문학’과 ‘과학’의 융합의 가능성을 탐색하였다. Ⅲ장에서는 실제적인 문·이과 통합 고전시가 교육 내용 마련을 위해 과학과의 통합을 중심으로 다양한 고전시가 작품 감상을 시도하였다. 대상 작품으로는 편중 없이 다양한 갈래의 작품을 다루기 위해 향가와 고려속요, 경기체가, 시조 작품을 다양하게 선정하였고, 더불어 과학적인 접근이 가능한 작품을 재조명하고자 하였다. 따라서 A절에서는 천문현상에 대해 주목하여 감상해 볼 수 있는 향가 작품을 살펴봄으로써 과거의 선인들이 갖는 천문현상에 대한 인식 혹은 세계관에 주목할 수 있었고, 이를 실제 천문학적 지식과 정보를 동원하는 것으로 보다 면밀히 작품을 감상하는 기회로 삼을 수 있었다. 또한 B절에서는 동물의 생태에 주목하여 감상해 볼 수 있는 고려속요와 시조 작품을 살펴봄으로써, 각각의 작품 속에 등장하는 동물이 어떠한 상징과 의미로 나타나고 있는지에 대해 실제 동물의 생태에 관한 지식과 정보를 동원하는 방식으로 그 연결고리를 찾을 수 있었다. 이를 통해 작품에 대한 기존의 해석을 학습자가 다시금 평가해볼 수 있고, 작가에 의해 작품 속 의도된 오류를 발견하는 등 새로운 해석의 가능성도 발견할 수 있었다. 마지막으로 C절에서는 자연의 속성과 식물의 생태에 주목하여 감상해 볼 수 있는 작품들을 살펴봄으로써 작품 속에 드러난 자연의 모습과 그 안에 내재되어 있는 자연의 섭리에 대해 보다 쉽게 접할 수 있었고, 실제 과학적 정보와 지식을 찾아 적용함으로써 그것이 어떠한 생태 특성을 근거로 작품 속에서 사용되고 있는지에 대해 보다 합리적으로 이해할 수 있었다. Ⅳ장에서는 문·이과 통합 고전시가 교육의 의의와 효과에 대해 논하였다. 학습자들은 본 연구에서 제안하고 있는 문·이과 통합 고전시가 교육을 통해 비판적 시각과 태도를 함양할 수 있으며, 융합적 사고력을 기를 수 있다. 또한 주체적으로 문제를 해결하는 능력을 기를 수 있다. 필요한 자료와 정보를 스스로 수집하고 활용하며, 다양한 방법적 창의성을 추구하여 다양한 문제 상황에 대처할 수 있다. 더욱이 중요한 것은 학습자들의 해석이 더욱 다양해질 수 있다는 것이며, 이러한 사고의 다양성이 존중받을 수 있는 분위기의 교육적 환경이 반드시 마련되어야 한다는 것이다. 학습자의 비판적 태도와 유연한 사고력, 그리고 주체적 문제해결 능력의 신장은 창의·융합형 인재를 양성하는 데 얼마든지 기여할 수 있다. 본 연구는 다음과 같은 점에서 의의를 갖는다. 첫째, 고전문학 교육에 있어서 문·이과 통합 교육을 위해 문학과 과학을 융합하는 새로운 시도를 수행하였다. 둘째, 융합형 제재로서의 고전시가 작품들을 재조명하여 문학과 과학의 통합 가능성을 밝혔다. 셋째, 이과적 성향의 학습자들이 문학에 대한 어려움을 극복하고 흥미를 느낄 수 있는 새로운 고전문학 학습의 기회를 제공하였다. 앞으로 통합 교육을 위해 이루어야 할 융합과 통합에 대한 과제는 여전히 많이 남아 있다. 최근 계속해서 강조되고 있는 통합 교육을 통해 앞으로의 미래 사회를 살아갈 창의·융합 인재 양성이라는 목표를 이루기 위해서는 계속해서 다양한 분야들 간의 융합이 시도되어야 할 것이다.;Starting from the point that the field of Korean language education should make sufficient efforts to nurture creativity-converge human resources with humanistic imagination and science-technology originality according to the objectives of the 2015-revised educational curriculum, this study aimed to suggest a new direction of Korean classical poetry and songs education. It is an attempt to overcome the problems and restrictions embedded in the previous classical poetry and songs education as well as to prepare the integrated educational methods in terms of liberal arts and natural science, particularly for natural science-oriented learners who tend to be unfamiliar with literature or feel difficulties to study literature. The literature review examined the goals of the integrated education that the 2015-revised educational curriculum has pursued and the preparation plans for the integrated Korean education suitable for the goals. The previous studies were classified into three categories in general. Prior to the discussion on the integrated education, the studies on convergence education, and the studies on the integrated education between liberal arts and natural science, and the integrated education on ‘Korean language education’ were explored respectively. As a result, it was identified that the discussions on the integrated education in the field of Korean language education have been conducted only regarding the integration within a subject; they lacked the discussions on the integration between Korean language education with other academic fields or subjects. In Chapter Ⅱ, as a preliminary investigation for preparing the integrated educational contents for classical poetry and songs education between liberal arts and natural science, the trends of the integrated education were understood while discussing the roles of classical poetry and songs education within these trends. Moreover, the possibilities of convergence between ‘literature’ and ‘science’ were examined to prepare the integrated education for classical poetry and songs in an actual way. In Chapter Ⅲ, a variety of classical literature works were analyzed to prepare the integrated education for classical poetry and songs in an actual way. In order to have a balanced approach without biases, various works, such as Hyang-ga, Koryeo-Sokyo, Gyeoggichega, Sijo, were selected from diverse genres which enable scientific approach as well. Accordingly, Section A explained about a work, Hyang-ga in which students could focus on its astronomic contents, thereby focusing on the awareness or world view on astronomic phenomenon of the Korean precedents. Therefore, students could have an opportunity to closely appreciate the work by using the actual astronomic knowledge and information. Also, Section B explained the Koryeo-sokyo and Sijo dealing with animal ecology so that students could find the links to animals from each work and their symbolism and implications by using the actual animal-ecology knowledge and information. In doing so, learners can reassess the existing interpretations on the works and find the possibility of new interpretations, including discovering the errors in the works intended by the author. Finally, Section C explained about the works dealing with natural characteristics and plant ecology. Thus, students could easily comprehend the natural settings revealed in the works and the inherent principles of nature. In addition, by searching for actual scientific knowledge and information and applying them to the works, the students were able to understand their usage in the works based on the ecological features in more rational ways. In Chapter Ⅳ, the implications and effectiveness of Korean classical poetry education integrated between liberal arts and natural science were discussed. The learners would access literature in more autonomous and critical attitude through the integrated education on classical poetry suggested in this study. They would demonstrate creative imagination, and enhance their abilities to use various materials and information. More importantly, learners’ interpretations would be much diversified, and the educational environments in which such diversity in thinking would be respected. The learners’ improvement on flexible thought or independent problem-solving competence could contribute to fostering creativity-convergence human resources. This study has the following implications. First, it made a novel attempt to integrate literature and science for the integrated education between liberal arts and natural science in the field of Korean classical poetry and songs education. Second, it explored the possibilities of the integration between Korean literature and science by shedding new lights on the classical poetry and songs works as convergence materials. Third, it provided chances to natural science-oriented learners to overcome the difficulties in studying literature and feel interested. However, the limitations of this study are as follows: the attempt to integrate literature and science is somewhat adventurous and experimental due to the lack of scientific knowledge of the author whose major is not natural science. Furthermore, the suggested plan is not tested in the actual field of education. It is hoped that future studies making up these limitations will be performed.
